Always worth a stop ...

Always worth a stop in the evening ... either for the food, a post-dinner drink, or just to enjoy the decor. We had dinner and drinks this time around before heading into the Christmas market for vin chaud and dessert.

Hotel Métropole built in 1895 by French architect Alban Chambon, is the only 19th c. hotel in Brussels still in operation today. Founded by the Wielemans-Ceuppens brewer’s family it's an Art Nouveau masterpiece. Café Métropole,on the ground floor has 80 seats inside and 150 outside in the heated terrace. The decoration of the Café is totally impressive. Corinthian columns, rich... More

Popped in after walking around for several hours in the city. Nice relaxed atmosphere and ambiance. Exactly what we were looking for. Couple glasses of wine, decent carbonara and home made soup!

Love the ambiance: it's an experience to sit in that room and think of all the diners who went before you. The quality of the food was good - nothing exceptional, nothing ghastly. The service was attentive. But the room, and the feeling of tradition, now that's lovely!

Opulent inside but as a smoker the outside has 24 heaters. Great. Meals were reasonable, especially at lunch time

there is heating on the terrace for smokers. The coffee is awful, but there is very nice tea and some good desserts.

The decor here is fabulous and it is worth going in and sitting down with a (rather overpriced) drink in order to soak it up. Don't bother with the food it's not up to much and there are far better restaurants close by. Have to say last time we went we wondered if the waiter was new as he came... More

We stayed for 1 night at Metropole and cafe metropole was one of the most antique and luxurious coffee shops in Brussels. It has a great n classy service.
