OK but not a great dining experience

I wanted moules frites somewhere close to Grand Place. As a solo diner on a Friday night it’s not straightforward to get a table. This was the obvious choice despite looking to be a tourist trap. It was OK: decent food (although not the best moules I’ve had in Belgium) and reasonably fast... read more

A 5 minutes walk from the centre/town square is this low key restaurant. We were 11 people and we tried at least 5 different Moules dishes, and everybody was satisfied with their choice. Good priced and very good service.

Compared with the past, this restaurant cares no about the customers anymore. We were 4 people on Thursday evening. One out of us has ordered the typical plate from the menu "a la carte", the "carbonade a la flamand". The meet was not fresh and the taste was acid. We reported to the waiter, but they have not replaced it.... More

Friendly atmosphere, you could eat both simple or sophisticated, in accordance with your taste. Good prices for an very good food (30 euro for an excellent "homard-a-l-armoricaine"). The best restaurant in the commercial area of Grand Place.

Our meal in La Moule Sacre was among the worst meals we have ever eaten and the only disappointing meal during nine days in Belgium. Never again. The waiter feigned incoherence when we complained.

Got mussels in Brussels. Great Belgium beer, good appetizers. My daughter and I got the 3 course meal deal, was excellent.

On my last night in Brussels I had to have mussels and didn't intend on eating near the Grand Place, but it was getting late so I popped in here. The beer selection could have been better, but the mussels were very good. I had mussels in the Diablo broth which was excellent.

My review is really somewhere between average and very good, but I am giving the restaurant the benefit of the doubt.. My son and I ordered two Belgian specialties: beef casserole and glazed rabbit. The beef in its sauce was good but nothing special. The rabbit was better, with an interesting beer sauce. The bread was great. Service was a... More

Our first night we had a very disappointing meal but I was determined to find a good place and I was not disappointed. It was a little pricey but the special mussel dish was delicious. Service was really good as well. The only disappointment was the beer. I didn't care for the Leffe. Last night's Kriek was much better.

One of the hazards of eating is Brussels is that there are so many tourists, so there are many tourist traps (places that sound good, but served average to below-average meals). Ok, so now you've had your fill of chocolate (check our Darcis ... so so good, even in a city full of good chocolate) and you can't face another... More
