Far from the beaten tourist track, le zinneke is an amazing place for sampling Belgian food. The service is great, the ambiance is very relaxed. It is a place frequented by locals mostly. I live in Brussels for 8 years now and I can still say it offers the best mussels (69 types!!) and catbonnade in town. Highly recommended to... More

I've been several time for mussels. They have an amazing choise of mussels preparation (+/-70), and all those I tried were really good. Sympathic atmosphere, nice food, king poeple for the service, my wife and I enjoyed a lot. And prices are correct. Authentic Belgian place to eat and typical Belgian food. I strongly recommend ! I have been dining at Zinneke many times along two years and always satisfied with the quality of food despite the high price, the slow service and the often too crowded place. But yesterday we had such a bad experience that we decided to never return again. We were three adults and a child, arriving around 20:30 on a Wednesday... More

We'd read good things about the mussels served at this restaurant. We did walk 4 miles to eat here and I wish I could say the mussels were excellent, but really not any better than our Italian or French restaurants in Phoenix! The restaurant was not quite open so we waited across the street at a small park...service was okay... More

During our business stay here in Brussels we found this nice restaurant. With so many reviews and a 4 out of 5 we could not get wrong. And indeed, the food was very good. We had the entreat which could be award winning, meatballs in tomato sauce and biefstew (traditional belgian food). The only downside to the ambiance was that... More

Le Zinneke is a great destination to take visitors who want a good quality Belgian meal, and the mussels are fantastic. Great atmosphere, especially out on the terrace, and friendly waitstaff which can be a rare thing in Brussels. Definitely recommend to those living in Brussels and those passing through.

We were there last week, like 6 tourists anxious to taste the typical Belgian food in a typical Belgian place. Well, I've been living here for 20 years now and I must say the place looks a bit more like a tourist trap than the typical restaurant a Belgian would choose The moules (there were like 400 hundred varieties in... It is a fine Belgian cuisine to have a dinner out, away from tourist traps. Reservation is essential as it is very popular among the locals (it tells a lot about the place). A huge selection of mussels, Irish beef and sauces are very tasty! The food is generally very good quality and mostly organic. Enjoyed sabayon for dessert. Service... More

I had heard a lot and all good about this restaurant, but I came out very disappointed, the mussels were dry and old. Didn't like them at all. Other dishes were ok for example the americaine and carbonnade.

what a pity you didn't tell it to the waiter, if it was the case we would have changed your mussels a problem may happen, do i have to remember you that mussels are closed when we cook them and we cannot check every of them before bringing them to the customer. same as wine, you have to taste it... Open since the mid-fifties, this is one of Brussels’ favorite mussels and fries places. With 69 variants on offer, you’ll be hard pressed to make up your mind before the friendly waiter comes round to take your order. We had three different casseroles of mussels and a vol au vent, all of which was preceded by some croquettes. We were... More
