What a treat!

We happened upon this place for lunch and saw long lines, so figured we had found something terrific and we sure did. We ordered our food, found a table to stand at with other tourists (no sitting tables but we didn't mind), got our food hot and delicious when our name was called, and had an... read more

The concept is very nice and but the food is really not that great. It's more enjoyable for the atmosphere than for the quality of the cuisine.

I have had there some of the best seafood of my life, especially have fallen for their meals a la plancha (grilled). The concept is very simple: you order at the stand beside the fish shop at pretty and lively St.Catherine, they make everything freshly in front of your eyes, and you are waiting with a glass of nice white... Noordzee Mer du Nord is a fishmonger that offer a wide range of cooked meals to take away or to enjoy in the Sainte-Catherine square. There is a number of stand-up tables available for customer, or it is possible to eat at the bar. I had delicious moules-frites in that place and I strongly recommend them. Despite they look too... It was on our list of places to go but we only made it 15 minutes before they closed on a Sunday night - only two fried options left but they were great, service was great! Really wish we'd gotten there sooner...

The counter to order is outside and they call you when your meal is ready. You cross the street where bar tables are set and you eat standing up. This is where all the fish places are so very very fresh. You can order wine, most people do when I was there. It's a change from the wonderful French Fries... More

In Brussels you need to stop by Mer du Nord.... when it is sunny, the best atmosphere ever... you need to queu, order and wait untill they yell your name to pick up your food (fun part!). Fantastic street-fish-food with wine for about EUR 10/pp!

My husband, three year old son and I were in Brussels for five days and we ate here twice. Both days were delicious. Fresh seafood and cooked right on the spot so it doesn't get fresher than that. We had the famous razor clams which were well seasoned and simply delicious with a local beer. We also tried the calamari... More

I have been living in Brussels since 1995, so it was quite natural to go to the Noordzee for buying fish (about every week) or just for a quick glass of wine and some delicacies. I have never, never, been disappointed. It just is the fish-place-to-be in Brussels. Simply the best. As I am from the coastal region, and many... More
