Good veggie food and pleasant atmosphere

It was a hot and sunny Friday evening that we went. The restaurant was full in and out but my husband and I didn't have to wait long to be seated. The complimentary bread & dip were great, the beer good & the fresh lemonade excellent. There's a good choice of vegetarian burgers & my husband really... read more

Ate here tonight as it is across the road from my hotel. Young very casually dressed staff in all manner of mismatching clothes. Started off well enough with the bread and hummus. No offer of water - not sure if that's normal in Belgium but a change after France. Moved upstairs when it started to rain - had to ask... More

We were really hungry when we went for lunch in the houtsiplou snd the first thing we noticed was the really friendly guy who welcomed us. The dlices of bread with vegetarian spread we were brought immediately saved us and the food we had then was just delicious. I loved the burger! The soup of the day my wife had... More

I've learned quite quickly that teenage boys need fuel, not fancy French cuisine. So thanks to TA reviewers for pointing us to Houtsiplou - an ideal spot for a burger, with a young at heart feel but an accommodating attitude, no matter what your age or language. When we ate there, there were couples, 3 generation family groups and cool... More

Stumbled across this little beauty on our way from the Be Manos hotel to the Grand Place and what a find. Hubby ate Carbonade and I had a fabulous pesto brushed toast topped with mountains of rocket and beef carpaccio with a side of The Best Soup In The World. Served by smiley happy people in a bright and quirky... More

We ate here last night after reading the great reviews online. We didn't opt for starters but the restaurant provided free homemade houmous and bread. Which was a nice touch. My partner chose a rare steak with chips and he really loved it! I had a cheese burger with bbq sauce (cooked well done) and it was really delicious. Fresh... More

It's not my first time here and I'm happy to report that nothing has changed! The food is still yummy, the service is still attentive and speak English and they have few options for vegetarians which is always a plus Check it out and you will not regret it

Walked in as a group of seven early on a Friday evening. The staff were quick to accommodate us. The restaurant is nicely presented with a modern feel. Drinks were well priced, the food we had was great. Between us we had a variety of burgers, the meatloaf and the steak. The meatloaf was great, a credit to the place.... More
