4 for ambiance. 3 for food.

Don't get me wrong. This is a great place. They even have the Belgian whiskey (who knew such a thing existed?) and the food is good. But what I really like is the interior. It's worth a visit simply for that. They also have beers and stuff that might surprise even a Belgian.

First appearances are good, with a traditional front and quirky vintage 'Belgian' interior featuring signs, pictures and a degree of period style. Service is friendly enough and we were seated quickly enough and without fuss - no reservation. Wine is fairly ok, though the list not huge or particularly good value. Little imagination on display and a pretty basic/rustic (read:... More

This is a great cozy Belgian restaurant full of local people! The fries are very good, the meals delicious and the beer great! I liked the big windows and the atmosphere there! It is noisy but I liked it there! Reserve a table in advance!

A nice place, good atmosphere and friendly, fast, efficient service. As mentioned by several other reviewers, the main problem seems to be the lack of salt in the kitchen. Both beef stew and steak tartar were ok, but not particularly tasty. The beer and wine list is nice though, as are the desserts.

we thought to eat (3 persons) on a Monday evening, 19.45, in this place, there were several free tables and few tables with people already eating (so probably quickly leaving...) but we were told no way to eat if no reservation. I know places full every day with long queue, having a drink happily waiting for a dinner because it's... More

Good, solid, no fuss Belgian fare in a cosy surrounding with a good friendly service. The beers from Brasserie de la Senne are also available on tap which is a great news. Avoid the carbonnades, they are somehow too sweet.

We went on a rainy windy typical fall day in Brussels... So we started with a warm onion soup which was quite nice and regenerating for our cold-wet situation. Then we followed with a delicious and quite big boneham and a reaaaally small and dry irish steak, a bit disappointing. Beers were delicious. Service was ok.

Les Brassins (I know as a Brussels native) used to be a typical Belgian food place but now none working there has anything whatsoever to do with Belgian culture and it is very visible… the food is ok (expensive for small portions) , just ok for Belgian food but the attitude of waitresses is anything but ok: hostility, unwillng to... interior = what we call a typical local old fashion "estaminet". drink = they serve the best Belgian special beers. food = solid Brussels local specialities, being "stoemp" ; this is a type of mashed potatoes with vegetables.

The service was good but the food was old fashion Belgian food, we ordered filet minion steak that wasn't tasty and the red fish I ordered sunk with fat heavy sauce...
