Good dining, good service

Pleasant atmosphere. We had a three-course meal @ 35 euros. Creative amuse with a mussel in foam with Moroccan spices. Delicious Scheldt lobster (+24 euros). Lamb was tender and good. Onglet (+6) was returned: undercooked and tough. It was deducted from the bill. Best Dame Blanche ever (+7). A... read more

We went for a weekend in Antwerp and ate at this restaurant. They have a good menu and the choice for a 3, 4 or 5 course menu. The food was good although I ordered a Angus steak which was somewhat sinewy. The service was not very friendly for the most part which was a downer on the experience. A... More

The concept of this restaurant is as follows: You pick a menu option (3, 4, 5,... courses) Than you get a list of dishes per course of which you can choose 1. Note: a lot of the dishes require you to pay extra, and you can only order up to 3 different dishes per course. I like the concept, although... More

This is an old building that has been tastefully restored. As we were a larger group (7) we opted for the chef's four course surprise menu (there was a the option to have 3,4 or 5 courses). All the group enjoyed the food, even when some said that it wasn't what they would normally order. The blend of flavours and... More

The Dawson Memorial Church was one of the many seamen’s churches in the port of Antwerp. It has been artfully restored with many art nouveau elements, high ceilings, mirrors and furniture in style. The location is near the latest hot spot in Antwerp, “Het Eilandje” a revamped area near the brand new museum MAS. We were a group of six... More

such a shame that the incredibly delicious food was overshadowed by the most unfriendly service I've ever came across

Food at Marcel is amazing. You can choose from a 3,4 or 5 course menu that is marked by a dot, all at set prices. If you want to divert from THE set menu, you can choose anything else at a small, somethimes little larger, extra fee. THE atmosphere is great and service is friendly. You can choose to follow... Smaller group of people (12 people) was seated in the back of the restaurant, so quite nice for a evening with cutomers. It is a bit more private then sitting in the busy restaurant itself. Lovely decoreated and cozy atmosphere. Dinner - 3 course plus amuse bouse - was very much for eye. Beautiful decorated plates, food wuite ok but... More

at first sight reasonably priced menu but you are charged extra for almost anything, quickly driving up the price of the meal. Clumsy waiting unfortunately clashes with the nice setting and interior. 20 euros for chef's wine choice? you get 1 glass of mediocre white and 1 glass of reasonable red. Not for me.
