We stopped by for drinks on a warm later afternoon. The interior courtyard is a nice respite from the clamor and tourist throngs of the Gros Markt nearby. Picnic-style tables outside; comfortable historic dining room inside. Very helpful friendly service. My husband is the beer drinker in the family, and the staff was helpful in describing the various styles and... More

Antwerp is lined with tourist restaurants hawking for your business. Glad we found this spot instead. They play classical music! Courtyard looked nice, but on a cool, rainy day the inside was the only choice. It was quite cheery and warm, as well as quiet in midafternoon. Our waiter had a good sense of humor, as most Belgian seem to.... More

A nice, quite traditional cafe with a great selection of beers. It seems to be very popular with groups of tourists so it can get very busy. We arrived relatively early and didn't have any problems with the service. We had karbonaden (beef stew) and asperges op Vlaamse wijze (asparagus Flemish style, with egg, ham and a parsley-butter sauce), which... More

My wife and I had lunch there earlier today. The atmosphere is extremely pleasant and the food was delicious. By contrast to an earlier review on this thread, the Flemish rabbit stew was absolutely wonderful. On top of all that, the selection of beers was quite extensive. A good find!

Having heard so many good comments about this place I was extremely disappointed with most aspects of my meal. Service was slack and my meal just had to go back! Flemish rabbit stew is not a lump of over micro waved rabbit placed on a beef stew gravy. I then elected to go for the beef stew which was ok... More

At lunch here last week and it was great being able to sit outside on please warm day in a large open air space but with no traffic or pedestrians going by. Our waiter was charming and helpful and I had large plate of tasty talliagatelli with salmon. Would definitely revisit.

So, very good on the food when four of us ate there and the beer range is good too. Nothing that grabbed us though to want to return quickly.

An unassuming sign can be seen on the street just off the Grote Markt, yet it was the medieval courtyard which caught my attention. Unfortunately we didn't stay long enough in Antwerp to return but this was one of my favourite places in Europe. I had the garden salad which was very fresh and came with mayonnaise, a Belgian taste.... More

This was actually our first dinner in Belgium, and still one of our favorites. The food was definitely Belgian comfort food, and not overly complex or unique, but very well prepared and exactly what we were hoping to find to go with their excellent beer selections. We ended up turning this into a four hour affair as we enjoyed a... More
