A neat and inviting little restaurant spread over two house widths on a residential canal street in the centre of Leiden. A really well balanced menu and good wine list are complemented by very pleasant - but not gushing - waiting staff. The kitchen is open to the restaurant but keeps well in the background. Certainly not cheap, but I... More

This is my kind of dining experience- cozy, friendly, and warm! The menu was artfully presented and delicious. The chefs clearly have a great sense of flavor and possibility! A real treat!

This one of those places that doesn't wow you with unnecessary splendor but just with great food and fantastic wines. You can taste and see that the owners are there because they believe they have got something special. I totally agree.

One of the better and fancier meals I have enjoyed in Leiden. It is a nice atmosphere and maintains a very approachable menu.

I got the only unreserved table my first evening in Leiden, and will be forever grateful. The food and service were both superb. I had the daily four-course menu, with two of the three offered wine pairings, but will not even attempt to describe each course in any detail. The plates were not large, but each (even the amuse-bouche) was... More

The four course dinner (incl. veal & tasty pheasant) is top-notch. The excellent staff succeeds in creating a friendly, neighbourhood like atmosphere. Dinner and wine were perfectly timed. Do take their wine by the glass offer. The glasses are generous and you will drink top quality wines off-the-beaten-track (Jurancon, Morellino).

I have had the pleasure to have lunch and dinner here several times in the past few months. Great food (haute cuisine), good wines, nice & hip ambience, professional & attentive service. My contacts (of whom some food specialists) and I are always happily surprised after eating here. The plates are works of art by appearance and taste. Unfortunately the... More

My colleague booked this and he chose well. From the outset, very friendly but not stuffy service. Food a revelation as it was unexpected in a "bistro". A black pudding and duck liver starter was sublime and beautifully cooked, presented and seasoned. The next course was shoulder of beef - well, this was beef as good as any filet for... More

I recently spent a few days in Holland on Business with a colleague and ended up in Leiden a place i know quite well. We wandered around for a while soaking up the sun & the atmosphere when we stumbled upon this little bistro by the cannel. we sat down and were imediatly greeted by Wendi & Meiki who offered... We spent a night in this restaurant with friends and were all very happy with just about everything. The service is very personal, friendly and to the point. They did not make one mistake during the whole evening. At the same time the atmosphere is very easy going and laid back. The food is very very good. The plates look... More
