Unusual food in a vibrant restaurant

We walked in here without reservations on a Saturday night. The place was packed, but the estimated waiting time only 30 minutes or less, so we decided to wait at the bar. We've been to De Markt several times now because it has a charming atmosphere and friendly staff. Set in Drieherringstraat which is a lane way filled with restaurants, De Markt has good standard fare. The beef bouillon is very good and the warm bread and spice olive oil delicious. As for other menu selections - the lasagne is ok but... More

Had a nice three course meal on a midweek evening. Beetroot risotto was absolutely fantastic, so was the main. Service was a bit slow but the place was packed so not a surprise.

After being sent away from several other restaurants because their kitchen was 'closed' long before the end of advertised opening hours, it was a breath of fresh air to come to De Markt where this wasn't a problem at all and the service was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant is situated right in the historic centre, with a lovely... More

Very poor and unauthentic Italian food, each course we ordered was a disappointment in some way. Example: we ordered spaghetti with shrimp and it came with Parmigiano already sprinkled everywhere - cheese on seafood pasta!? If you want good atmosphere for a drink, this place could work: it's got a nice vibe, a lot of energy, and trendy decor. Just... More

the only thing that save this restaurant is the design, but if you look for food it's better going somewhere. They should be an Italian restaurant but I challenge you to find any place in Italy that serve that mix of food!! They had pizza with Ossobuco (veal shank with the marrow)..Come on!!! What kind of mix is this!!! However... More

We stumbled upon this very colorful restaurant; after our second excursion into town. It's just a corner away from the open market east of the train station. Very crowded, obviously the locals like it a lot. We still got very fast service and then had two fantastic meals, a seafood salad and a pasta, both just delicious. As American tourists... More

This is a simple and yet very nice restaurant, with friendly staff. Good price X quality, nice view. You won't be disappointed.

Nice restaurant in central Utrecht. We managed to get a table at the back overlooking the pretty garden. Good menu choice and the service was quick. We both had pizza and they were delicious - thin crust with plenty of toppings. I was pleased I left room for dessert as the cheesecake was fabulous and beautifully presented.

We went here with four and enjoyed the Mercato appetizer to share. Main course was also good (although the veal was not quite good enough for medium rare so beware) and satisfied all. Quantities were good, we were quite content. Unfortunately the open kitchen this time did quite a number on our clothes. The smell of baking oil took several... More
