Landmark must see

This restaurant is a landmark of Vluchthaven area of Hoorn just as Belga Queen is of Graslei in Ghent. It is one of a kind. The food is just average. So you basically pay for the ambiance. Service was also superb. As for a window seat up the tower. It's probably also a good spot to propose. 😘

We asked a guy at the tourist information desk for a good restaurant for dinner, and this restaurant was recommended, and we are so happy that we (my husband and I, and a couple-friend) gave it a try. It was really a fantastic dinner with delicious dishes, good wine and good service in a old/historic building with a nice view... More

This 16th century fortified tower was completely renovated - in the 17th century. The setting is fantastic, right in the most atmospheric part of this old Dutch East India Company (= pirates to the rest of the World) port. Went for dinner with my wife on a Saturday night. Not our first time, and it was more in hope than... More

The beautiful located Restaurant De Hoofdtoren in a nice historical building made our day perfect. After visiting the museum 20e (20th century), we stood here for a lunch with beverages and found everything to be perfect. Great taste and very nice and gentle waitresses. A definitive recommendation!

I was actually hesitant to go here because it seemed like a location-over-quality type place, but I was pleasantly surprised. We climbed the dark stone staircase to a small wooden door and - though we wondered if the restaurant was closed or if we went the wrong way - we opened it to a charming little one-room restaurant overlooking the... I came here for a dinner with a friend, attracted of the nice reviews I saw on the internet. The food was great: we ordered sole fish with Belgium style fries and it was very delicate and perfectly cooked. The taste was delicious. We then moved directly to the dessert: we take macaroons with strawberries and a mix of chocolate... More

My boyfriend and I had a late Sunday lunch here, around 14. We were happy to find the kitchen open anyway and even happier to be able to seat in one of the tables closed to the windows. The view is amazing and so it is the old building where the restaurant is located. The waiter has been very kind... More

We went to this restaurant during a "Restaurant week". That means that you get a 3 course diner for a special price. You get a few choices (meat/fish) but not as many as the normal menu. I have chosen the meat menu, my wife chose the fish menu. Both were very tasty and prepared nicely. The ambiance inside the Hoofdtoren... More
