Our group met for dinner at "The Laughing Javan", and we were glad we did so! First class cuisine, in more than sufficient quantity and variety. Wait staff was friendly, helpful, and highly competent. I especially liked the heated serving "rail" down the middle of our tables, which kept the many dishes warm and tasty during our long meal. Thank you Trip Advisor reviewers. We love Indonesian and having scoped out two lesser options on our walks, decided to look up Javaan before venturing in. The food is absolutely delicious: just what I was craving. We were well looked after by the owner but I can see that some reviewers could have a point about slower service on some... More

Best ever chicken and lamb satay. Followed by delicous beef rendang. A very nice bottle of house white for a very reasonable price. Great service so very impressed

We were friendly welcomed and assigned one of the last tables. The waitress took enough time to help us choose the right menu and it was very tasty! The vegetables remained fresh and were NOT overcooked and drowned in sauce. We had chicken and it was well flavored and tender. Very nice experience and definitely a top Indonesian restaurant...

Excellent food, friendly and efficient service, have eaten here 5 times over the last 20 years and am pleased to see that they are able to maintain the original quality of the founder. Reservation is recommended!

We thoroughly enjoyed our rijsttafel for 4, shared among our families. Warmly welcomed by the owner/manager and service was prompt and friendly. There IS an English menu. The location is down a small side street, but well worth finding! Don't miss this experience in the Netherlands!

I visited with a friend in early July and was very pleased with the atmosphere, food and prices. I'd never tried Indonesian before but having sampled a number of dishes in their ricestaffle (not spelt like that!) I was able to try many and enjoyed them. The service was good and I looked the interior too. I'd definitely go back... More

Relatives, whom were in our group this time around had been here 5 years ago and were dieing to get back here as it was very good that time, apparently. However it seemed that things had changed in these 5 years. Beware, don't park on the main road nearby, it is poorly indicated but you are not allowed to park... More

We were staying in Harlem while visiting Amsterdam and the Netherlands. Many years ago my wife and I travelled to Indonesia but could not afford a rijsttafel (literally rice table - basically a buffet at your table of Indonesian food). So when in the Netherlands, we could not pass up the opportunity. This restaurant was authentic to the Dutch Indonesian... More
