I have been to Sumo now twice in Haarlem and enjoyed it thoroughly both times! I assume the less than stellar reviews are from sushi snobs but I think this place does the job and does it well. Service is fast and lots of menu options (plenty of things for people that dont like too much sushi!) This is a... More

The family went to Sumo last week. The food is excellent and although it is an "all you can eat" restaurant, the quality and content does not show this as the food is delicious, freshly prepared and is not overloaded with cheap filler. There are two sittings and this can cause a little problem as things are rather rushed -... More

All you can eat menu in little below 30 Euro (depending on the time in day you eat). You order your dishes in rounds, in every round each person can order 5 dishes (a dish is one nigiri\ 3 sushi pieces\ one piece of meat\ etc..) and you have as many rounds as you like (the ordering paper only have... New concept for us with the all you can eat and limited menu, the quality of the sushi was mediocre, as well as presentation and service. Would not visit again, but ok for a quick lunch. If you are not very hungry the price is steep considering the quality of the food.

I am a regular traveller to Haarlem and have eaten in many restaurants there. Last week I had a meal with some Dutch colleagues and I have to say it was excellent! So the deal is you pay just under 30 Euro and you can then pick 5 dishes per person over six courses. I don't know how anyone could... More

Haarlem: Just had the most disgusting/appalling restaurant experience ever (it's a bit long, but definitely worth reading): SUMO near the Groote Markt at the top side (nearest the church). Eating sushi calmly when a rat walks right near our feet and then walks across the dining room to another corner of the room. After complaining to the staff this was... More

If you ever had dinner at a all-inclusive restaurant, you know how it is, you eat too much, everything is fast , rushy. Well, also at sumo. But the quality of the sushi is good, for Dutch standards. Also the diningcard is very diverse. Don't go for th atmosphere, but for the food. I mostky skip the tempura, I find... More

Not the best sushi I tried and also not the worst one :) Personal is friendly and delivery is fast. I would call this place as a “fast-food” cafe, means not a really traditional Japanese restaurant.

I really like Sumo, I've been several times for lunch and dinner. It's a bit like Asian tapas, as you select several small dishes each 'round'. It's a set price per head and you get several rounds of ordering. Great for ensuring your food stays hot and allows for re-ordering anything super tasty! Menu has sushi, noodles, soups, fried food... The sushi at sumo is great, the service as well - that said it's a bit of a sushi factory, lots and lots of tables and it can get a bit loud sometimes. They offer lunch at a reduced rate, for dinner, if you come early, around 17, expect loads of families having dinner with small children, infants etc however... More
