We went to try the Hotch Potch. Basically its potatoes mashed with other cooked vegies and some meat and gravy. I had the meal which included pea soup, a hotch potch and some yogurt and custard desert at a fixed price. The pea soup was very good. My wife had endive and bacon hotch potch with a meat ball. I... Recommended in a travel article, this restaurant lived up to its billing for great Dutch food. We headed here on our first day in Amsterdam and filled up on a prix fixe meal of pea soup, a hotchpotch of tender braised beef over mashed potatoes, and a yogurt and custard dessert with real whipped cream. At 19 euros, the price... More

The Emptynesters usually try to enjoy at least one traditional Dutch meal while in the Netherlands as Mrs. Emptynesters is 100% Dutch (but from 4 generations in the US). This visit, due to time constraints and location, we tried a new restaurant, De Blauwe Hollander and we were very impressed! Excellent service, wonderful food, and, IMHO, an excellent value for... We were looking somewhere with some Dutch cuisine. Even if it is still very touristy (blame it on the area), the prices and the quality are alright, especially for lunch. Coming from somebody who has worked in a Dutch kitchen, I can confirm that it could not only have been worse but is actually worth the visit if you want... More

Lucky to get in before it got busy and so glad we did. I come from a Dutch mother and grew up eating the dutch cuisine. Dinner here took me back to my childhood and will recommend it to anyone looking for the taste of the Netherlands

We visited this restaurant and were impressed. It is well worth a visit from anyone wanting a real taste of the Netherlands. Not expensive and the dessert is fantastic I gave a try to the Slavinken, red cabbage & apple, boiled potatoes.

I went to the restaurant my first night in Amsterdam while I was in the mood for traditional Dutch food. I had an amazing wine and the three course special consisting of hearty pea soup, hotchpotch, and desert. The food was great! One of the highlights of my trip!
