We ate here on our first night in Amsterdam. It has traditional Dutch food and really friendly staff who are happy to explain what different dishes are. The restaurant had a relaxed feel to it and the food was really good. It gave us a great experience of Dutch food and company - exactly what we wanted. Would definitely go... More

Be prepared for a very filling "stick to your ribs" meal. Our server was very friendly and described all the different dishes. The food was wonderful. Try to leave room for dessert, they are great as well.

We enjoyed the starters, great introduction to Dutch cuisine. Friendly service and pleasant ambience.

After a great day in the nearby museums we were wandering back to the tram station and decided to have dinner. The district around Leidseplein is full of restaurants and De Blauwe was one of the few Dutch ones. We had no idea what "Dutch food" is, so decided to try it. We were very happy, all 5 of us... More

In an area crowded with eateries from around the world, we were determined to find Dutch food and we were delighted to find De Blauwe Hollander. I had cheese croquets to start, followed by hotchpotch served with a giant meatball. Traditional looking restaurant with lots of old wooden fittings, feels very cosy, service was very friendly, seems like a family... More

Small modern restaurant with some outdoor seating in a pedestrianised alley with lots of restaurants. Close to the museum quarter too. Wasn't that full at 6pm on Sunday evening. Meatballs were all right, with a bit too much potato. Mussels were nothing special

Before heading to this restaurant we asked at our hostel where we could find dutch cuisine. We were pointed in the direction of De Blauwe Hollannder. Our server was friendly and greeted us with a welcoming smile. He was happy to recommend his favorites off the menu to us as we had no idea what was going to be good.... More

From the outside looks like nothing special but we had a good time here. Sure the Dutch food is not the best in the world, nevertheless if you want to try this is a good place to do it. Try the typical hotchpotch in a warm and typical small restaurant, with a romantic touch.

We visited De Blauwe Hollander on our first night in Amsterdam and our last night in Amsterdam. This is traditional Dutch hearty food. Don't let the cheesy location scare you. We ordered the Hotchpotch with Meatball and the Hotchpotch with roast beef. These are BIG portions. A hotchpotch is mashed potatoes with a veg mixed in and meat on the... More

I'm so grateful to have stumbled upon De Blauwe Hollander, amidst the sea of restaurants in the Leidseplein area. The food was traditional Dutch cuisine, and truly delicious! And the service was very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the cheese croquettes & salad, and the smoked eel tartare, and was blown away by the flavor and quality of both. I... More
