Dutch food in Amsterdam

I am told that there are not too many specialist Dutch food restaurants in Amsterdam. So this makes this little discovery even more of a gem. Not expensive, wholesome food and great beer. Have the meatball and pea soup!

Nice little restaurant serving traditional Dutch food in the center of Amsterdam. We sat near an open window happily eating mussels and watching the tourists stroll around. The food was good enough - a good portion of mussels and crispy creamy fries. We struggled with the smokers sitting just outside of our window. The waitstaff was very accommodating and were... More

Located in the center of Amsterdam in the street where you can find dozen of restaurants.. But you should definitely choose this one! The food is delicious and the waitresses are extremely nice. The price is normal (a main course costs ~17€ which is totally reasonable in Amsterdam). Definitely coming back!

On our seventh evening in Amsterdam, we selected this restaurant. It turned out to be the most delicious meal our group of five enjoyed on this trip! The ambiance was very pleasant and service was spot on. The Dutch Bouillabaisse was excellent and other meal selections received equal praise. A jewel of a restaurant offering typical Dutch dishes at very... More

Unsure what to eat we stumbled across this gem. Surrounded by the usual steak houses, Pizzas and pasta restaurants this place serves some fantastic Dutch classics not seen often. The service was friendly the price very reasonable and the food very tasty

It was a delight to find this little restaurant amongst the multitude of pizza/pasta/steak touting restaurants near het Leidseplein preying on the hordes of tourists. I was born in Amsterdam and wanted some real Dutch food. The staff we helpful and friendly, the dishes authentic, the atmosphere cozy, the food delicious. No fancy, trendy or” original” cuisine or bizarre combinations... More

A small but nice Dutch Fare restaurant amongst an ocean of Italian, Indian etc., restaurants. Not the biggest menu in town, but enough choice to warrant more than one visit. I can highly recommend both the Halibut and Steak dishes which were wholesome and very tasty. The mains felt a little slow in delivery but who cares when you are... More

The poffertjes were astounding! But so was everything else. I would highly recommend the appetizer plate, it had a great assortment of Dutch classics. I would come back here everyday.

When we go away to different countries we like to try the local cuisine. Dutch food is very much comfort food. Hotchpotch, for instance, a very traditional dish which has great similarities with our sausage and mash. So if you expect food which is a great revelation you will be dissapointed; but, if you like food like mom used to... More
