Tasty and flavorful

I am a big fan of Moroccan and Algerian food and the food here is definitely authentic. Delicious blend of flavors, they have different options daily. The sit down tables are not so comfortable but the setting and food makes up for it. I would recommend take away, big portions and priced better.

Stopped in because the place is quaint and looks so attractive with food outside... Couldn't fault the chicken curry, couscous and veg! An absolute bargain at 13.50 Euro!

Finger-licking delicious vegetarian options. Amazing for lunch/dinner by the canal on a sunny day. Authentic feel. Friendly staff.

Every time I'm in Amsterdam I head straight to Rainarai. The food is incredibly fresh and well prepared, with a bunch of delicious piping hot meat and vegetable options. The beers are cold and there's a small but well thought out wine list. Cannot recommend highly enough

Every bite of this wonderful food was delicious! Such a unique atmosphere for a tasty lunch! Starting with couscous we had our favorite roasted vegetables piled high in a bowl, with a glass of white wine. What a treat. I will return every time I am in Amsterdam. My ONLY teensy complaint is that it was a little pricey for... More

We had a delicious dinner--two vegetarian, two with chicken--at this unpretentious restaurant/cafe/catering place. For dinner diners choose either rice or couscous with either 3 vegetables or 1 meat & 2 vegetables. The portions are large and the food is tasty. We especially liked the chicken and the mushrooms.

We popped into Rainarai for some lunch whilst looking around The 9 Streets area of Amsterdam. All the food is laid out in big serving bowls and the guy serving us told us exactly what each dish was. Everything looked so delicious it was hard to make up our minds, but we chose pumpkin and squash and roasted veg each... More

We had walked by this small quaint restaurant several times and loved the look and smells. They appear to do mainly a take away business as there is really only seating for about 8 people. The food in the window is a real tease and treat for those who love the aesthetic of middle eastern rice and couscous dishes. The... More

Rainarai does great food. While I live in the Jordaan, I've never been to the takeaway location, always just fly by on my bike. However, when I want to do something different, I head over to their restaurant, which is a 10 minute bike ride West, past the end of Haarlemerdijk/Haarlemerstraat, the shopping street at the north end of the... A lovely little place for a spot of lunch. Not many tables and we sat outside in the winter sun. Food was delicious - simple but very tasty. Lunch for two came to 32 Euros including hot drinks and meals.

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
