Nice little find

I stopped in here for a late lunch yesterday. The young woman in charge heated up my choice of couscous and vegetables, which were nicely seasoned. I also selected a glass of mint tea from the various choices. A great place to stop for a quick bit.

A lovely little place for a spot of lunch. Not many tables and we sat outside in the winter sun. Food was delicious - simple but very tasty. Lunch for two came to 32 Euros including hot drinks and meals.

We were so happy to have stumbled onto this gem while we were discovering the Jordaan district as it proved our finest meal in Amsterdam and definitely best North African meal we've ever had. It was all cooked to perfection with mouth-watering vegetables and huge portions. The restaurant has no menu but you choose from an array of dishes that the... More

The locals keep this little gem busy with take out, so if you're going for dinner you have to hope you'll get one of the only small three tables available (or spot in shared soffa downstairs) and get there early before they start running out of food by 21:30! If you imssed out for dinner go for lunch or just... More

We kept walking by this restaurant and said how wonderful it smelt so on the 4th walk by we could see a vacant table so we went in! We were not disappointed with the Mediterranean/Algerian cuisine. We were ushered to the counter to choose our dinner as there is no menu. Small choice but what there was was great -... More

We were intrigued by a decent place on Prinsengracht serving Algerian, which I believe is one of the few cuisines you can't really find in New York. Starting with a bed of starch (rice or couscous), you build a platter out of many fresh daily offerings at the front counter and it's then brought to you in the seating area... More

We found this nice place alongside the Prinsengracht, close to the Jordaan and "9 straatjes", The food is precooked and one can choose ones ingredients and then the plate is heated (mine could have used a bit more heat). All in all the food was very good and we had a great view (mid-october we could sit outside with a... More

This little restaurant (self-service) with a view on the canals doesn't seem like much from the outside. I had never had Tunisian food before, but from what I've tasted at Raïnaraï, it was a positive surprise! I chose a medium plate with couscous, a meat and a vegetable dish. The lady serving on that night heaped my plate with food... More

When you are walking around in Amsterdam and you are enjoying the Canals you can get hungry from all that beauty, but you can't seem to find a restaurant that doesn't scream tourist-trap from 100 meters afar. Well then, check out Rainarai! On a small corner just beside one of those romantic Canals you can find this cosy oriental eatery... More
