Lovely local cafe with friendly, helpful staff. Good coffee, cakes and scones, the lunches looked good too. We breakfasted here twice instead of at our hotel and bought a pot of their mango jam to take home with us but be warned: you cannot take jam through airport security. Should have thought about that really.

Flawless, basically :) They clocked us as British and gave us a menu in English - which was very helpful. Delicious coffee!

The coziest little place with the best breakfast i ever had. The scones with raisins and the homemade marmelade are to die for.

Great place, flexible staff, fantastic food. I strongly recommend you to try scone Apple and Cinnamon and the Cappuccino. Normally the breakfast is served till 12. But we arrived at 12:30 and still could have it!

A last minute change to eating the normal breakfast in the hotel found us wandering around the corner to this fabulous bakery! Amazing fresh bread and their own jams and curds...you have to try the passion fruit curd with the croissants! Very friendly staff and nothing was too much hassle...back off there again tomorrow!

We arrived, sat ourselves. Waited for someone to come to take our order, no one came. I looked around and there were 4 tables with only drinks on them, some with menus in front of them and others waiting for their food. Bad sign...no one has food, we are the last one's in, so we decided it would be a... More

We actually went to the Zuid cafe De Bakkerswinkel (But I don't seem to be able to find that one on Trip Advisor) - highly recommend that cafe if you are looking for a nice quiet spot to enjoy delicious food, vegetarian options including high tea which looked insane! Great price and such a good selection of delicious, fresh foods.... More

I had a very nice breakfast here. I'm certain lunch would be equally nice. Good variety of breads and pastries, I loved the quiche sardine (yes, sardines!) and the apple tart was delicious. They have high tea here as well. There are a few locations within Amsterdam.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
