Description: Fifteen restaurant in Amsterdam is an exciting offshoot of Jamie Oliver’s famous Fifteen London, a great example of one set of dynamic, generous people inspiring others to act. In this case, the ‘others’ are Sarriel Taus and Coen Alewijnse who have created this combination restaurant and chef’s school in partnership with Fifteen London to benefit the struggling young people of Amsterdam. So what’s it like at the dining end of the equation? Very cool. The arty cosmopolitan style includes vibrant graffiti-scrawled sheet metal walls contrasting nice with the smart, sleek modern lines, designer seating and white table cloths. The restaurant seats up to 200, yet can still feel right for an dinner a deux. Each night a tasting menu is on offer, inspired by Jamie Oliver incorporating only the freshest regional produce. The modern Italian menu changes weekly and includes one of Jamie’s favourite antipasti to start, a first dish of fresh pasta, gnocchi or risotto, second course of meat, fish, poultry or game, and, we’re quoting here, ‘a wicked dessert’. A wine tasting menu is available to match the food tasting menu, or choose your own from the excellent list.

Dark, dull, poorly explained. Tiny portions. This is tapas but they are too up themselves to name it as such. It is a con. How does it take 30 mins to bring salami and bread? ("Sausage" is 5 slices of salami btw). Don't waste your time. Utter nonsense. I pity the diners of Amsterdam if this is a special place.

The menu is filled with smaller very good plates. I had the most beautiful beef tartare ever. Photo attached. But what makes the plase very special is the amazingly attentive staff. The see everything. Fix any little detail. And serve you in a very friendly and natural manner. Relaxed and professional. If i ever open a restaurant i'll steal the... More

There are a group of restaurants which are various anagrams of the word "ENVY". They each have different offerings. We were recommended ENVY by one of the others (sorry don't remember which other one now, may have been Vyne or Nevy) which was fully booked and so we reserved here instead. We were not disappointed for a minute. We had... More

Even if this is not my favorite kind of restaurant...too dark no cozy atmosphere no music at all. I have to say that the food was excellent and the presentation as well in every detail, the staff is kind and professional. The vine is expansive....

If you want to experience a night with absolutely beautiful dishes and don't want to be in a expensive *-restaurant you have to go here. It's relaxed. The waithers have a lot of knowledge and there is a very nice vibe/atmosphere!!

We went here on spec and as we arrived early evening we were fitted in. Later in the evening people were being turned away and it was a Tuesday evening. The waiter we had was very friendly and helpful and made us quite at ease. We sat opposite the kitchen and were able to see the chefs working away as... More

Recommended by a friend, and so glad we followed his advice. We had the 5-course chef's tasting menu and it was fantastic. Super fresh ingredients, interesting combinations and techniques (foam!). Portions were appropriate for the small plates theme. Wine and drinks lists were large; wait staff very attentive and knowledgeable. Even when it got crowded, we could still chat comfortably... More

We went to Envy as a family of 2 adults and 3 children to try a decent restaurant in Amsterdam: we chose the chef menu for the 5 of us. We particularly enjoyed the appetisers with jamon iberico, the mackerel with scallop and the different types of cheese. A really nice evening with really good food in a country not... More

The owner of the apartment we rented recommended Envy as a nearby good choice. It's a small place and we needed to make a reservation. The restaurant is long and narrow. The food is mostly high-end small plates, like Dutch tapas. We had some slices of Dutch sausage, a small fish dish and a mixed salad. I would say that... More

We stumbled across Envy having read the reviews and as it was late morning they had plenty of room for an early lunch. Great choice of wines by the glass, lovely tapas-style food - good cheese and cold meat choices and lovely surroundings.
