Description: Fifteen restaurant in Amsterdam is an exciting offshoot of Jamie Oliver’s...
Fifteen restaurant in Amsterdam is an exciting offshoot of Jamie Oliver’s famous Fifteen London, a great example of one set of dynamic, generous people inspiring others to act. In this case, the ‘others’ are Sarriel Taus and Coen Alewijnse who have created this combination restaurant and chef’s school in partnership with Fifteen London to benefit the struggling young people of Amsterdam. So what’s it like at the dining end of the equation? Very cool. The arty cosmopolitan style includes vibrant graffiti-scrawled sheet metal walls contrasting nice with the smart, sleek modern lines, designer seating and white table cloths. The restaurant seats up to 200, yet can still feel right for an dinner a deux. Each night a tasting menu is on offer, inspired by Jamie Oliver incorporating only the freshest regional produce. The modern Italian menu changes weekly and includes one of Jamie’s favourite antipasti to start, a first dish of fresh pasta, gnocchi or risotto, second course of meat, fish, poultry or game, and, we’re quoting here, ‘a wicked dessert’. A wine tasting menu is available to match the food tasting menu, or choose your own from the excellent list.

We liked the restaurant, food was very good :) but just for advice what to expect, you should remember that this is trendy place with many people and tables are standing right to each other, so it can be nozy and not intimate enough :) portions are small so you should order more if you are really... read more

A great restaurant in the heart of the Joordan district on the beautiful Prinsengracht Canal. A great recommendation from a guy working in the ACNE studio boutique on the Nine Streets. Previously turned away on our last visit because the place was full ,we booked on line before our visit on this occasion. Which was good as they were turning... More

Nowhere does it say that the portions are smaller than tapas on the menu posted outside. We found out once already seated. We ate and the food was alright. Too bad I got so so sick later in the night and am still feeling the effects a day later. Ruined an otherwise great weekend.

Great potential Food: The starters of meats and cured sausages were delicious, as was the bread with accompaniements.! The mains/ hot food was under seasoned with food combinations that didn't quite work, consisting of chilly, warm and hotter elements in one dish, with questionable herbs thrown on for show. They are rather like large amuse bouches, but not as amusing.... More

Tonight we had a Chiefs choice fixed menu. At first we were a bit upset as we had not know their would be no choice, but our problems got sorted out with a substitution at the first course level. To cut short a lot of comment-lets just say that we (4 of us)had a great and memorable meal. Very reasonable... More

We saw this place while walking down the canal side and very glad we did. They had just stopped serving lunch but allowed us to sit and order lunch and were very helpful and friendly. The food and wine was amazing, definitely on the shortlist for our next trip here!

The restaurant is very nice, trendy and cosy. The food is delicious. Little portions - you need to order 3-4 dishes. Reasonable prices. Good drinks with gin.

Me and my partner had a five course meal here on a Friday evening. As others have written, the concept is to have many small dishes, so what is a five course is more like 10-15 very small dishes. Some of the dishes were very artistically set up, while others were not at all. The starter for instance was three... More

My wife and I visited Envy on our last night in Amsterdam as a special treat to ourselves. We arrived approximately around 7pm on a Sunday night and were seated at the long tables. We left three hours later completely satisfied and not feeling bloated like you can when provided massive serving sizes at other restaurants. Our waitress was lovely... More
