We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident, after doing a spot of shopping on Heilegeveg street (spelling!?). I always feel that you get ripped off if you eat on the main streets or in a pretty square, so we turned left at Scotch and Soda shop onto a side street and found this restaurant with outside seating just at the... Everything is made freshly to order, the fish is great, and the service is reasonably quick and friendly (although it can take a little while during busy times). The food is really good, and for 22.80 (Superior AllYouCanEat), you really can't fault it.

It was very delicious sushi and spicy wacami salad. Very quick service. On our next visit we want to return to this cafe.

From the outside and the entrance it does not look so inviting, worn down and in need of a good spruce up. Once inside it does better but the smoking room near the entrance for me is a no-no, but no idea where they could otherwise have it. So I would give an average for decor. We used to come... More

I really like Tokyo Cafe. It's not the best Sushi restaurant in Amsterdam ( Yamazato ) but if you combine ambiance, quality, friendliness , taste and service this is one of my favorite places in Amsterdam. For dinner you can choose the AYCE Superior menu for 22.80 euro and the Deluxe for 26.80. The menu is extensive; handrolls, sashimi, maki... More

The restaurant has very good location in walking area of Amsterdam. When we arrived without reservation the place was almost full but the staff found a place for us. The sushi selection is great and the quality is good, for my taste the only upgrade could be made with rice preparation and soy sauce. You can order dinner menu and... More

As previous reviewers have stated Tokyo Cafe isn't quite what it used to be. Each time I go it seems to go more and more downhill. Its by no means terrible but it is defiantly not the best sushi place in town! It is nice and centrally located though!

When I lived in Amsterdam some years ago I was so happy to see Tokyo Cafe as the new Sushi place in town.. food was super fresh.. taste was awesome.. service outstanding. I real delight. Years later I tried it again and it was still good.. probably the same.. or absence made me a bit more forgiving. I recently visited... More

We booked a table for a late Sunday lunch at 4pm. They had our custom for 5mins until we walked out. We were put on a round table with bench seating. As a couple and two friends we spread ourselves around the table, ready for an onslaught of sushi. The restaurant was empty - only one or two other tables.... More
