The concept is simple and it sounds great. Always in for lobster it was definitely worth the try. The prices seemed reasonable, but then the fun starts. In our party of three only one liked some bread, and one of us drank only tapwater. On the bill we were charged for 3x bread and water (€7.50 for tap-water!) The lobster... More

Although the concept (of having only 2 dishes) sounds interesting, it doesn't work in my opinion: If you want great steak, you (should) go to a steak/grill restaurant. If you want great lobster you (should) go to a fish restaurant. If you're less picky about quality and like a nice place, next to the canal, with warm and cozy interior... More

Red is the colour of cooked lobsters and rare beef, which is no doubt why this restaurant is called Red. At Red, you can have lobster or you can have steak, or you can have lobster and steak together, otherwise known as ‘surf and turf’. This is not a restaurant where you will spend hours anguishing over the menu. Living,... More

You do not have much choice, which makes it easier to choose, but what you get is superb and delicious. The tournedos and lobster are sizeable and a decent portion, salad is good and fine. People are nice, every time we come here it feels like coming home.

The best steak I have had in Amsterdam! I had one in Paris that was like this but I it has receded somewhere into the back of my mind because I can never find that restaurant again and it was on a weekend when we were newly in love and were were the last people left in the restaurant and... More

this is a lovely restaurant, the food was gorgeous and the service was great. The interior of the restaurant was stunning. I took my partner here to celebrate his birthday and it was a perfect place for something special.

We booked this restaurant on Monday for Tuesday night. We arrived slightly early and we were given a rubbish table by the entrance. We waited 20 mins for menus and a further 20 mins for water and wine. The restaurant specialises in steak and lobster and serves these with fries and salad. Apart from lobster the only other starter is... More

Dear Pete and Jenny, I'm sorry to hear that your dinner in our restaurant wasn't to your standards. It isn't our policy that you have to wait for several minutes (I think 2 times 20 mins is a little bit excessive) so I apologies for that. And for the ''Surf&Turf'' this is our specialty and everybody enjoys it very much!!... More

Excellent meal here. Be sure you know what you are getting - lobster and/or beef. They stick to the basics here and they do them well. Interesting, old world decor. Service was good - neither overly attentive nor under attentive. Getting a table was tough - only a 10:30 pm seating was available, but they served us quickly. We brought... More

Went to RED on recommendation from a friend. Dubbed as the original 'Burger and Lobster' I was keen to see whether it lived up to the hype from locals. The food (including wine, caviar, chips and salad!) was excellent. And the price ... below the standard you receive. I've been to some of the best steak restaurants in the UK... More
