Fantastic food

I came here for the first time last year and I absolutely fell in love with their grilled cheese sandwiches! I come back as often as I can and make sure to take my friends with me so they can try the grilled cheese sandwiches for themselves :) the atmosphere is also very nice and it's in a very... read more

Great little bar/café in the Jordaan district. This was my fourth time in the city and I always come back to Blaffende Vis. The staff are very pleasant, there is a good selection of beers, and the food is good. Very reasonable price wise compared with a lot of other places in the city. The bar has a great atmosphere... Very popular, so be prepared to wait but do not grab a table as there is some sort of system going on - just tell the waitress that you want to eat and she'll get you a table when one is free. Small range of food, but what there is is excellent and potions are large. Very good value. Outside... More

Little Public House in Amsterdam that the locals use. Its off the beaten track which means that you get more beer for your euros and I highly recommend it to you. Lovely location, lovely setting, great inside and superb bar staff that allow you run up a tab.

Lovely little place tucked away in the Jordaan district. Good selection of beers and very tasty food. It gets very bustly and lively in the evenings.

After spending four wonderful days in Amsterdam I came across the real Gem that serves up amazing food. But before we get into the food more about Cafe De Blaffende Vis. This is a cafe visited by the locals. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm. We were fortunate to be served by Daan a local himself (born and bread). The... More

We were just walking home after a great steak dinner when we heard loud music and voices. We found the source quickly. The place is not big but very charming, two levels of cosiness with the toilets upstairs and large floor to the ceiling windows downstairs. It is very close to the centre, so extremely easy to reach on foot.... More

We found this little cafe/restaurant as we strolled down the canal. It was about a 5-10 min walk after we passed Anne Frank's House. We went in for a lunchtime snack and were made very welcome by the waitresses serving, so we decided to go back in the evening. The menu is different every night, with only about 4/5 main... More

A traditional amsterdam cafe in the romantic Jordaan. The 4.50 ossenworst sandwich is as cheap as in a bakery but is enough to keep you running througn a.dam all morning! The girls are lovely, like the milk foam on their verkeerd. A place to keep returning to.

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
