Great Food, Freindly Service

Found this by accident and we were so glad we did! We ordered a number of appetizers and it was plenty of food for dinner for four! Great food, we wanted to lick the plates! Service was wonderful - we think it was probably the woman proprietor - she was so warm and made us feel at home. Enjoyed the... More

This Turkish restaurant in downtown Amsterdam came highly recommended on TripAdvisor and Iens, making it hardly impossible to be a miss. Or so we thought... The restaurant itself looks nice enough. We reserved for dinner on Friday night and upon arriving, after finally getting someone to attend to us after a couple of minutes, were rushed to our table. There... More

Myself and my boyfriend stumbled upon this gem whilst on a recent trip to Amsterdam, easily the best meal we had while we were there. Terrific value, we got the mezze option not knowing what we were getting, so much food arrived, all sorts of variety, all delicious! The staff were also very friendly. Highly recommend for anyone living or... More

Food at this place is good and tasty if a little expensive for the genre. More of a "home kitchen" than the usual Turkish BBQ, but the roast lamb and meatballs do not disappoint. The lack of credit-card handling does disappoint however--if you don't have a Dutch "Pin" Card, be sure you have cash!

Like other reviewers, we chose this restaurant by chance while strolling the Jordaan. We were seated immediately and the service throughout the meal was prompt and gracious. I felt like a welcome guest. My wife and I had different eating experiences. The ali nazik I had as a main course was one of the best Middle Eastern dishes I've ever... More

We were lucky enough to be staying close to Divan - and went there for dinner. It was one of the best Mediterranean meals I have had in a while. Menu is typically Greek/Turkish - the lovely staff are more than willing to offer recommendations. Food is delicious - a real variety and options for veggie and meat eaters. Drink... More

This charming little restaurant offered up one of the best dining experiences we've had in Amsterdam. Divan offers up delicious, authentic tasting Turkish food in a cosy, old-school family-owned restaurant atmosphere that reminded me of my own older relatives back home. Although the entree list included some interesting options, we opted to make a dinner of mezze (several appetizers or... More

Good menu choices, typical Turkish / Greek. Prices about right, 5 people starter, main, and drinks €140. Fast service, although it was quiet. However, be aware that like many restaurants in Holland they only accept Dutch payment cards. Recommended

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
