Excellent breakfast

I went here for breakfast. They serve breakfast from 06:30 to 10:30. Wonderful! It's an amazing space in the "Grand Café" tradition. Quiet, respectful and civilised. The breakfast buffet had everything you expect from an upmarket hotel: smoked salmon, eggs, different sorts of breads... read more

I went here for breakfast. They serve breakfast from 06:30 to 10:30. Wonderful! It's an amazing space in the "Grand Café" tradition. Quiet, respectful and civilised. The breakfast buffet had everything you expect from an upmarket hotel: smoked salmon, eggs, different sorts of breads, croissants, etc etc. The coffee was made individually for me, and brought to the table. The room is worth a visit, if only to enjoy the art nouveau splendor. Had dinner there, and it seems like the restaurant is a bit lost. For a Friday evening, it was very quiet. The service seems untrained and sloppy,, not at all unpleasant, just amateurish. I had a strong sense of a management that didn't care, as though... More

We had promised ourselves that we would pay this great restaurant /bar a visit some time during our holiday in Amsterdam. We went here on a Friday afternoon, just for a drink and even before you enter this pkace you cannot fail to be impressed by the illuminated fountains. The interior is totally amazing, art deco to the highest standard... More

First of all what a wonderful setting for a memorable meal, words don't do justice to the vaulted ceilings, the huge windows, the stained glass and the wooden floor. We had dinner on friday night, the service was attentive but unobtrusive, we were given time to consider menu and wine list and then given time to enjoy the courses. Never... More

Dinner at Café Américain is a must for every visitor to Amsterdam. Its art-déco interior is second to none, the location is fabulous and the food is good. We had oysters from Zeeland, followed by sirloin steak and seabass. Unfortunately, the steak was not good, it had a strange flavour. The rest was delicious and the service excellent (we were... Goede locatie voor diner voorafgaand aan theater bezoek. Equally good for people visiting Amsterdam and looking for good standard quality food in a grand café environment in the centre of the city.

We had lunch here with our adult son. Service is leisurely bordering on indifferent. But the food is very good and the atmosphere is terrific. One of the most interesting spaces I've had a meal in. Your eyes drink in all the details in the architecture and the décor. And you have plenty of time, because no one is in... More

My husband and I visited on New Year's Eve, which was also the second night of our honeymoon. We had made a reservation on arrival the previous evening. On arriving for our reservation, we were seated before being informed that the menu was a set tasting menu with wine with each course. The food and wine was delicious, and the... More
