Still great after so many years

We have been in this restaurant since the opening day. Not every year, but very regular. It's amazing that it has still the same owner and design. Food has always been excellent and all the wines are great. Owner/chef can be a little grumpy once in a while, but he is presenting his menu and the... read more

A large airy room with well spaced tables, friendly and knowledgeable service, a modern and inventive kitchen, good ingredients, large portions and reasonable prices - what more could you ask for. I had one of the best pieces of meat (an Irish Rib) I have ever eaten. A great place for good informal eating.

Visited last month for the first time and we will be sure to return. The food was excellent and so was our service. Both the headwaiter and the chef came out to our table to visit and talk about the menu. Wine selection was excellent too. Delicious and relaxed meal! We actually ended up having a 4 hour dinner!

We made a booking for this restaurant at 7pm, possibly a little early by Dutch standards. So when we arrived, there was no one else in the restaurant -- always disconcerting. Nevertheless, we had the full attention of the staff, and had the menu explained to us, with the chef coming out to explain the restaurant's special menu for the... More

We were happy to see a restaurant where the chef and proprietor are proud of what they serve. The restaurant is small but normal for the size of one beside the beautiful canal. Around 15 tables inside (50-60 diners). Dinner with a bottle of wine, 3 courses under €200. Very good ingredients used..summer truffles were divine. The quail with foie... More

We have been here so many times and Bordewijk is still one of the best restaurants in Amsterdam. When you are lucky get a terrace table in the summer, in any case book in advance !

I know this may not be a review many people agree with but this place disappointed me a little. The prices are a little steep but its worth it for the food, which was great! Also, they keep updating their menu so thats good too. What didn't work for me was the ambience. Its too sterile and un-cozy(if I may).... More

Though promising myself not to go there again after having dinner there last autumn I did ask for a table again tonight while passing by looking for a place to eat. We were only welcome if we would take 3 courses. We did not accept and went to a restaurant close by. I must say from my previous experience that... More

I went here with a friend. We went on a recommendation. We opted for the three course set menu and we had a bottle of house red. The starter was asparagus and langoustine, the main was venison and dessert was a sabayon. Every course was delicious. I highly recommend a visit. The house wine was also very good. Two people... My girlfriend & I stumbled on this busy buzzing restaurant on a Saturday night. We hadn't booked but they did have a table free if we agreed to have "full dinner" we agreed as we were very hungry. We ordered two cola lights to drink as we don't drink or like alcohol. The waitress spoke to the manager who came... More

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
