Having read on a food blog about the blue pepper we booked it as the one & only Indonesian experience for our 2 day Amsterdam visit trip. On the plus the restaurant is very efficient at booking and organizing birthday surprises very generously. However the decor, atmosphere size and set-up of the restaurant is at best average and at €190... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by the concierge at The Grand Hotel Sophitel and we very much enjoyed our meal. We have never had Indonesian food, but as others have observed, it is similar to Thai food. Although there are 2 different set price menus and also one page of ala carte options, you can order ala carte dishes... More

We were recommended this by a Dutch ex-pat living in England, so booked it without further reference. On arrival, we were mildly taken aback by the prices, but thereafter it was all very good indeed: the food was excellent (one of us was vegetarian; the other not), and the service impeccable - just the right level of attention and interaction.... There are only three set menus. We had the most expensive one for 70 euro with three glasses of wine included. Every plate was a new favourite. Amazing restaurant but make a reservation early.

I wasn't really sure what to expect; it was Thai like. We had the Rijsttafel – The Sultan and I to sample everything. The staff was very friendly; however, they have some work to do on understanding and describing food.

We had dinner on our first night in Amsterdam and for the first time Indonesian food. The food and the service were very good, The place is very friendly and warm. We are recommending this place and would be happy to visit again.

If you like the taste of Thai and Indonesian food - this is where you should go while in Amsterdam! Fantastic tastes and beautifully cooked by the great female chef. It feels like a family business, but it is not. With only 28 seats, make sure you get her early or make a reservation. The "Sultan and I" menue was... More

Amazing food with exceptional service. Every dish is explained clearly when served and the staff were very helpful in replacing some items my daughter can't eat. I will be going back when I next visit Amsterdam

Blue Pepper is a must visit when you are in Amsterdam. The food is original, creative, and tasty, and there are three menus in which prices can vary depending on dishes and wine. The quality of food, preparation, and care is worth the price, despite the complaints from other Tripadvisor reviewers. Blue Pepper is not your standard nasi goreng and... More

I had the 3-course and my better half had the 5-course, instead of the all-in tasting meny paired with different wines. We did not regret, there was just enough food for both. We went for an Austrian Gruner Veltliner (white), which was priced very low despite its good quality. It pair well with all dishes (we stayed clear of the... More
