Very good starters and wine. Had just started with our main course when a family arrived with a wet dog from the rain outside. They were placed right next to us without asking us if this was ok. Being very allergic to dogs (especially wet ones) we had to ask to be moved. This was not a problem to the... More

When in Amsterdam we her skip this restaurant. Because: We like the ambience as the clientele is mostly local. Staff are welcoming and friendly without being over attentive. The food is very very tasty and so wel presented. my favorite: their excellent vegetarian dishes. On top of it prices are very reasonable. In short, we are never disappointed. Beware: Sluizer... Fabulous food and not too expensive. Service a little slow but we weren't in a hurry so it wasn't a problem. Definitely recommend it. I'd say that the atmosphere was a little slower than other places might be but it's nice to be somewhere where you can make your own.

I selected this restaurant from its external appearance and menu, without having sought any recommendation. By good fortune it proved to be an excellent choice and I even broke my own golden rule by returning to the same restaurant on the following night. The menu was diverse without being over-extensive, the food was of good quality, well prepared and good... More

Friendly staff but service was a bit slow. We weren't in a rush so it wasn't a problem. Excellent fish for mains, nicely cooked and well presented. Good atmosphere in the room, plenty of people on a Thursday night - groups of 6 and 8 business people and couples. Very convenient on tramline 4 and nice bars close by for... More

Our waiter was lovely, and very welcoming. If you visit, order the ribs as they were the best i've ever had! Ribs came with 2 sides, very filling.

This restaurant never disappoints. I have been eating here for about 15 years and is one of my top three restaurants in Amsterdam. Give this place a try and you will not be disappointed.

Our first night in Amsterdam and the Sluizer was recommended to us by our hotel as a "local" experience. The staff was friendly and attentive - and we really enjoyed our meal. The restaurant was very attractively decorated. Would definitely recommend. Dinners were in the 18-25 Euro range.
