We dined here on Saturday night, celebrating our 15th anniversary, and we have no words to express our pleasant experience. As soon as we sat down we were treated to two glasses of Champagne, a nice touch from the house. The food was delicious, well presented and portions of the right size. Then just after ordering they brought a basket... More

I've eaten at Sluizer four or five times over the last twenty years and last Saturday night's meal was just as wonderful as ever. Classy service and a range of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes very well executed and accompanied by good wines. The ambiance in the restaurant is always the same - no music just a buzz of conversations... More

I’ve seen this place while walking past one evening and I thought it looked nice and not at all touristy. So, the following day I decided to try it out. At the entrance I was greeted by a member of staff, who also took my coat, as it was raining outside. The menu is short, but well put together with... More

Two of us had dinner here on a midweek night. We were initially given a complimentary basket of fresh bread including nice dark brown rustic bread accompanied by a tapenade. To start we ordered gravad laks €11 which was good and home-made chicken liver pate €8 - two generously sized portions of pate and the taste was excellent. To follow... More

Sluizer was recommended to us as a good fish restaurant. We were not blown away by the fish or the service. As we had booked in advance we were caught off guard having to stand around, waiting to be seated. The fact that the restaurant was not overly busy, made it even more confusing. Once we were seated and initially served,... More

Good traditional food. We asked our hotel for a traditional Dutch restaurent. We ate steak which was good and a fish dish which was 2 whole fish with heads - a little unexpected but very tasty. Friendly staff and good service.

Very good starters and wine. Had just started with our main course when a family arrived with a wet dog from the rain outside. They were placed right next to us without asking us if this was ok. Being very allergic to dogs (especially wet ones) we had to ask to be moved. This was not a problem to the... More

When in Amsterdam we her skip this restaurant. Because: We like the ambience as the clientele is mostly local. Staff are welcoming and friendly without being over attentive. The food is very very tasty and so wel presented. my favorite: their excellent vegetarian dishes. On top of it prices are very reasonable. In short, we are never disappointed. Beware: Sluizer... Fabulous food and not too expensive. Service a little slow but we weren't in a hurry so it wasn't a problem. Definitely recommend it. I'd say that the atmosphere was a little slower than other places might be but it's nice to be somewhere where you can make your own.
