We travelled from UK & across to Europe, and quickly realize that the best Indonesian foods are found in the cosmopolitan city of Amsterdam. With long historical links between Holland & Indonesia, the Dutch have developed a keen taste for Indonesian cuisine since the 18th century. Indonesia’s favourite treats such as Nasi Goreng, Bamie Baso, Sate, Soto Ayam, Gado-Gado, Lumpia,... More

An authentic Indonesia restaurant in the central of Amsterdam! This restaurant is quite famous among Indonesian in Amsterdam. Although a little bit difficult to find, but this small restaurant will serve you authentic Indonesian foods such as nasi goreng (fried rice) with different amenities, soto ayam, satay and others. The owner is very friendly, so you will feel like you're... More

We were walking back to our hotel looking for something to eat. We come up on this little restaurant, that was packed with people including a number of Indonesian nationals. It is nothing flash inside, but that doesn't matter due to the great food. The menu is small, but when you order for example a rice you will be given... More

Great meal super service and the prices were also perfect. The portions are somewhat generous and filled us up after a long days walk. Go out and eat Nasi Goreng at Sie-Joe

I look forward to visiting Amsterdam to indulge in the Indonesian food that results from their former colony. This is a great hole in the wall chokka with Indonesian people, so I presume this is a good sign. I ate here three times and the meals are basic but great, from rice and noodle dishes and soups to satays. This... More

Apparently authentic indonesian food. It is very small, cheap, and the food is filling, tasty and hot (spicy and temp.). Service is basic, as is furniture, and no alcoholic drinks are served.

If you like Indonesian food you will be happy here. The owner is very happy to interact with you and is very proud of what he has attained. It makes for great fun. The food is excellent and the price is good. Don't expect to eat here with a big group. It is a small hole in the wall, but... More

The owner proudly showed us the book 'Where Chefs Eat' where we could see the writeup on his restaurant. This tiny hole in the wall is family run and your meals are cooked fresh. If you like Indonesian dishes this place is for you. Don't expect glitz but do expect a good home-cooked meal.

This small restaurant, close to Dam Square, has a small menu of home-style Indonesian dishes. Food was excellent and portions generous. The service was quick and pleasant. Good value for money. Recommended for a quick, inexpensive meal.

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
