We stumbled on this tiny restaurant while wandering around the Dam Square looking for a comfort-food lunch. There are three tables at a little bar facing the street where you can sit and watch life go by. A small bar at the rear of the restaurant has another two or three seats overlooking the kitchen area. There are another two... More

My dutch Indonesian friend I was visiting in Amsterdam took me here on a cold rainy day. It is the tiniest of placests and I have walked by it on that street many times and never noticed it, but now I will go for a visit whenever I am in town. My friend and I had the Bapao, which is... More

If you want to try a hole in the wall Indonesian food that is conveniently located, this is it! It really is a mom and pop shop where you can see a family running this small restaurant through a tiny open kitchen. The food is very good as we had their satay chichen with peanut sauce and their rice noodle... More

My parents and I were in Amsterdam for 5 nights and ate here twice, it was so good. Very good value (main courses around €11), the best bargain we found in Amsterdam. Very tasty food and quick service. Great location.

Unfriendly staff...I found a hair (long black just like the waitress') and asked kindly if they could replace it. I think the first waitress didn't understand my request so after 15' waiting I asked a 2nd one if they were making it and she just replied they don't do that, I didn't have to pay but I had no option... This restaurant is just fantastic, loved the experience of sitting outside with the flowers and all. There are no alcoholic beverages in the menu and that was not good for me because I'm used to drink a beer with my lunch always but the food was INCREDIBLE. Totally recommended!

Down home Indonesian food. Excellent skewers and rice, plus a dish of chicken and shrimp that was spicy and tasty. No pretense, just good cooking and good value in convenient location on Gravenstraat.

This is not a hyped up "Indo-fusion" place with lots of fakey atmosphere. This is a "mom and pop" shop serving deliciously prepared basics from a limited menu. It is a bit hard to find, but well worth the careful search down a small street.

When I have guests sightseeing at Dam Square craving for Indonesian food or insist on eating rice, I suggest they go here. "Authentic"? Indonesian food never tastes the same from place to place back in Indonesia anyways, especially if compared to grandma's cooking, so why should it taste here exactly as it does back in Indonesia, whatever taste that is... A friend took me to this eatery when I came to Amsterdam 6 years ago. I like its casual ambience, friendly owner, no fuss service style. Not like others fancy Indonesian restaurants in the city that offer rijstafel plus other ala carte menu which is usually expensive, this one offers some Indonesian dishes in a modest way at reasonable price...
