Description: On Hotel Okura Amsterdam's ground floor, you will find the Okura's Teppanyaki Restaurant Sazanka. Teppanyaki literally means 'to grill on a hot plate', which is traditionally the oldest way of preparing food in Japan. This kind of dining is very popular in its native country, in part because the chef prepares the most delicious dishes right before the guests' eyes. Various fishes and meats, including the very exclusive Wagyu beef, are prepared a la minute with Eastern precision. The Teppanyaki Restaurant Sazanka's interior features a contemporary Japanese style, the design of which is based on the elements of stone, wood, water and fire. The eleven teppanyaki hot plates will seat seven to ten guests each and are perfect for both business and festive occasions. It is also possible to reserve a private room with two hot plates, offering plenty of space for a maximum of 18 guests.

Eating here was a rare treat. We had the Sazanka Tasting Menu and watched in amazement as our chef named Chisa prepared each dish with precision and grace. This is very serious cooking. Highlight was the Wagyu Beef. Everything was delicious and wonderfully presented. Service was very attentive and friendly. Great wines by the glass.

A tremendous piece of theatre as well as a fantastic meal. The teppan chef was so precise and skilful with his preparation and presentation, that the cooking was sure to be just perfect. The subtle recommendations of what seasonings accompanied each course were gratefully received, and nothing was placed before us unless the presentation and arrangement was exactly right. The... I often stay at the Okura hotel, which is great. Sazanka is a restaurant where you need to take the time. Many dishes come by from the plate. For everyone there are the most outstanding dishes, for everyone there's something you don't like. Having said that, this is a truly remarkable experience starting at the hotel lobby. Great service, great... More

Wasn't the best, i do generally make a complaint if food is cold or undercooked but when i do its rectified with a smile - not on this occasion. I wasn't a fan of Sazanka and i don't think i will be returning. Sorry

This is an amazing experience. It is about high quality food (both meat and fish) and extraordinary visual experience. The restaurant is high price, 100 euro pp, but it fully deserves that. We share our table with two couples which made our dinner even more interesting.

they served the best Angus beef which literally melt in your mouth without you putting in much effort to chew. All the dishes that we have ordered that evening are tastefully and artfully done. thumbs up to the chef who served us at the table, cant remember his name, but he is rather skinny and tall Japanese guy

Wow... Just WOW! This place blew my mind. Our server was out of this world good at his job. He paid attention to every little detail, and had the most impeccable timing I've ever witnessed. He was in complete control the entire meal, very impressive. The hostess was very attentive as well, and very friendly. All in all the service... More

First of all, you must understand the settings of Sazanka: in Amsterdam, there are extremely few good restaurants. Having lived here for a year and eating out at many dozens of places, I really feel that restaurants in Amsterdam are very low quality compared to other tourist capitals around the world. That said, Sazanka is a gem in Amsterdam: the... More

The restaurant is situated inside the Okura Hotel and it features a beautiful Japanese ambiance, very romantic. Sazanka is traditional and modern at the same time. The ingredients used are fresh and prime quality and the service very attentive. Everything is cut and cooked right under your eyes, by a young, yet talented chef with a wealth of imagination. We...
