Description: Rain bar, restaurant and club in Amsterdam’s most active...
Rain bar, restaurant and club in Amsterdam’s most active café-and-nightlife neighborhood has been hot, hot, hot ever since it opened in 2005. Everything about it gets rave reviews: the menu, the bar, the club, the restaurant and the terrace, oh, and the genuine friendliness of the staff. Décor is tastefully modern with dark wood, leather seating, lilac and violet touches. The ground floor bar and Comfortable Dining Area morph into a club around eleven or so (weekend closing is 4am). The upstairs dining room is also tastefully modern. The truly inventive food is global fusion, like starter of pressing of wild duck and seasonal mushrooms with winter plum and chilli compote, crisp duck salad, foie gras lollipop and balsamic syrup, seemingly-simple main of burger becomes a Wagyu burger (birth certificate available on request) on hazelnut brioche with onion confit, sautéed foie gras, fried duck egg, hand cut chips and home made ketchup. Everything is made fresh here, from the bread to the famous ice creams. Up to 250 can take over the venue. There are three daily changing menus, 4- and 6-course tasting menus and an 8-course gourmet menu. Rain’s philosophy includes delight, refreshment and inspiration, and the hip, affluent crowd who gathers here seems to agree.

Just about ok

Staff very friendly. Food OK but a bit expensive for what it is. Toilets revolting. Wouldn't recommend as lots of better value, better food places in the square.

Relaxing environment located on the popular Rembrandtsplein. Rain is clean & efficient And food was both very tasty and presented on quirky slate dishes.

We waited over an hour for our mains, for which one of the meals was not even what was ordered. At no stage did wait staff check on us, we tried multiple times to get their attention and 3 times we had them check where our food was. Only once did they bother to come back and let us know.... More

We are living in Amsterdam for 6 months now... We are always looking for a nice place to eat and spend lovely evenings... Not this one!!!!!! Terrible food, terrible service!!!! My schashlik came 1 hour after ordering it, and after asking stuff 3 times if our food is ready!!!! It was overdone, burned, and just tasteless!!! The same was with... More

We eat here on a rainy evening, we sat outside under the heaters facing into the square and it was very peaceful. The food came out quickly, was a decent portion and very tasty. Prices were average. We didn't have bad services like a lot of the other reviews stated but the staff were pretty miserable but they served us... More

We dropped by for drinks late on a saturday night in July 2915. Did not try the food, but the staff was friendly and people seem to have a good time. Lots happening in the area.

Me and my partner ate here before reading any reviews and I was shocked to see the amount of bad ones it has. Whilst I thought the interior was a little bit scruffy, the food was amazing. It arrived in good time and I've no complaints about it at all... only that I couldn't try more things from the menu!... More

The worst service I experienced in the whole of Amsterdam. Staff just didn't care, couldn't be bothered to do simple things like take away when they can see we're finished. Ordered drinks - waited 15 minutes (at least because the starter had arrived) and our drinks still hadn't come. Asked about it and it turns out the waitress didn't even... More

Not very comfortable. Waiter was miserable. Seat's are in front of door which was wide open and windy and cold as well. We have ordered steak and they have NO Steak knives !!!!. The food is getting cold quickly due to being in front of door. We love to eat steak but here we are happy to make an exception!.
