Description: Rain bar, restaurant and club in Amsterdam’s most active café-and-nightlife neighborhood has been hot, hot, hot ever since it opened in 2005. Everything about it gets rave reviews: the menu, the bar, the club, the restaurant and the terrace, oh, and the genuine friendliness of the staff. Décor is tastefully modern with dark wood, leather seating, lilac and violet touches. The ground floor bar and Comfortable Dining Area morph into a club around eleven or so (weekend closing is 4am). The upstairs dining room is also tastefully modern. The truly inventive food is global fusion, like starter of pressing of wild duck and seasonal mushrooms with winter plum and chilli compote, crisp duck salad, foie gras lollipop and balsamic syrup, seemingly-simple main of burger becomes a Wagyu burger (birth certificate available on request) on hazelnut brioche with onion confit, sautéed foie gras, fried duck egg, hand cut chips and home made ketchup. Everything is made fresh here, from the bread to the famous ice creams. Up to 250 can take over the venue. There are three daily changing menus, 4- and 6-course tasting menus and an 8-course gourmet menu. Rain’s philosophy includes delight, refreshment and inspiration, and the hip, affluent crowd who gathers here seems to agree.

In this restaurant/hotel we (4 persons) wanted to have a quick bite; - tomato soup - fries - chicken piri piri with fries - burger We arrived and ordered at 9pm. 45 mins we had to wait for this simple dish. The food was more than below standard and with a terrible setting. We ate inside where the barman was... More

An extremely bad restaurant, the worst I have ever been to in Amsterdam. Unpleasant, even rude, staff, very racist towards other nationalities. I do no recommend a visit to this place at all!

Having waited over an hour for our food with no apology or any explanation, we were told it would be served within 10 minutes. When it finally arrived it was cold. Staff were extremely rude and unapologetic, we left without eating. I would not recommend this restaurant under any circumstances..!!!

This restaurant is the worst I have ever experienced in the Netherlands after many years of visiting. We waited 45 minutes for our food which didn't arrive all at the same time. Some of it was cold while some of us were finished our meals when the other meals had arrived. The food was well below average and not worth... More

My wife and I found this place after being advised by friends to visit Rembrandt Square. We sat our selves outside after waiting for some one to seat us. It then took at least 10 mins for the waiter to ask us for drinks. Once they came back with drinks and asked us if we were ready to order although... More

This place has changed hands many times. The original was excellent, as it changed hands the quality dropped. Now it's rock bottom. 12.80 for a small burger of poor quality meat, overcooked, with a salad where the tomatoes were green with the most unpleasant dressing ever. Avoid at all costs

My sister and I came across this restaurant by chance and we a bit unsure when we first entered as it was empty except for a few locals at the bar. However, I think we were just a bit early for dinner as more customers came in later on. The food was lovely, the service was quick and the staff... More

We visited as we had an Amsterdam City Card and they offered a good discount. The food was excellent (we had burgers), good portion sizes and the staff were really attentive. The restaurant itself was really nice and I'd definitely go back!

Let me start by saying the only time I will leave a negative review is when I feel it is necessary. We stopped here on our way to the Rembrandt house. It appears this restaurant does not care much about the quality. The hummus did not taste like hummus (it was pretty disgusting to be honest), the bread was VERY... More
