Description: Rain bar, restaurant and club in Amsterdam’s most active...
Rain bar, restaurant and club in Amsterdam’s most active café-and-nightlife neighborhood has been hot, hot, hot ever since it opened in 2005. Everything about it gets rave reviews: the menu, the bar, the club, the restaurant and the terrace, oh, and the genuine friendliness of the staff. Décor is tastefully modern with dark wood, leather seating, lilac and violet touches. The ground floor bar and Comfortable Dining Area morph into a club around eleven or so (weekend closing is 4am). The upstairs dining room is also tastefully modern. The truly inventive food is global fusion, like starter of pressing of wild duck and seasonal mushrooms with winter plum and chilli compote, crisp duck salad, foie gras lollipop and balsamic syrup, seemingly-simple main of burger becomes a Wagyu burger (birth certificate available on request) on hazelnut brioche with onion confit, sautéed foie gras, fried duck egg, hand cut chips and home made ketchup. Everything is made fresh here, from the bread to the famous ice creams. Up to 250 can take over the venue. There are three daily changing menus, 4- and 6-course tasting menus and an 8-course gourmet menu. Rain’s philosophy includes delight, refreshment and inspiration, and the hip, affluent crowd who gathers here seems to agree.

The worst service I have ever received.

Don't be deceived by the nice looking restaurant and over-priced menu. From the minute I walked into that restaurant I regretted it. We were told to sit wherever we wish, and so we did, only to be told off for sitting at a 4 person table (the restaurant was 1/4 full). We received a drinks menu... read more

Good but overpriced food on a silly plate. Took for ever to get drinks which were wrong. Should have seen the warning signs. Almost empty, arrived at 8:30pm and food arrived at 10pm. Give it a miss

The food here was good, but the service in the evenings took ages, the quality was good and drinks great but it wasn't the cheapest place. Staff were very friendly for dinner and breakfast

Our order was taken, then half an hour later we were informed that our order was never given to the kitchen. The waitress said it was her mistake. Our order was then rushed and came out the opposite to how we had requested. We then had to return the food as it was incredibly rare, this meant that we had... More

We walked into this bar at probly 8 o'clock it looked very posh from the outside so we headed in it took the waiter 10 minuets to order our drinks. Then we asked for a glass of tap water but apparently the manager dose not allow that! Then the waiter finally asked us what we wanted to eat. Then we... More

Upon arrival we were shown to our seat, we knew what we wanted and got served straight away, the meal was so nice, we had the steak chips n salad which was nearly presented and tasted amazing. The only down side was all the staff apart from one seemed clueless how to run a restaurant, I think they were new.... More

We visited this restaurant whilst waiting to go to the ice bar and therefore we only had an hour for dinner and made this clear to the staff when arriving. Firstly the waitress took around 15 mins to bring out our drinks. We then had a basket of bread whilst waiting for our main courses. The waitress continuously walked past... More

We was in Amsterdam for a weekend and we decided to eat here on the Saturday. We had chicken wings from the starters which were tender and fell of the bone. Mains we had burger with cheese and bacon, shishlak (chicken skewers) calamari wih chips. All food was very nice only downside calamari was more batter than calamari could not... More

4 of us went in to this restaurant for dinner. Service was very slow. 2 of us ordered steaks, one cooked medium and one cooked well done and 2 ordered burgers. The well done steak came out raw in the middle and one of the burgers was still very raw in middle. Initially the waiter said he understood why we... More
