Description: Pasta e Basta restaurant nearly opposite the Rijksmuseum has a name that simply doesn’t do it justice. It means ‘pasta full stop’ but really should trumpet the singing accomplishments and mad party atmosphere that the waiters and waitresses deliver. The dining room is splendid, with scarlet-covered chairs, flouncy wall sconces, dramatic drapes and fine art, while the bar area is more modern but just as operatic. The wait staff really truly can sing, everything from Billy Joel to grand opera, and they get the joint jumping. The long tables attract hens and big groups and the small cosy niches and bar are right for more intimate numbers, and it is just one fantastic evening. The menu is Italian, incorporating excellently-sourced meat, fish and veg. Anti pasti are served buffet-style from a chilled grand piano. Main courses always include eight pasta dishes like spaghetti with squid ragout, lasagne bolognaise with tapenade and sage, and penne with radicchio and goats cheese. International wine list matches the international musical programme. Groups are so welcome, and the entire venue seats 110.

If you do have time and plan ahead, you should get a table here. The restaurant looks really nice, but obviously it's the staff who make it amazing. I've never been so impressed by a restaurant before that I keep talking about it to everyone. This was it. They sung their heart out (when we got there, it was the... More

We had our business dinner in this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised with the singing waiters.Food is OK but not excellent. There is a big choice of starters and not so big choice of italian meals. Singing is something that gives benefit and HUGE plus to this place.

We felt very unwelcomed in the restaurant. The waitress for our table was always in hurry, did not give any information. When asked for the menu, several excuses were given. Very weird and terrible service. Food is not at all tasty. It is very expensive for the price and taste. This restaurant is a NO GO!

If you are looking for a good Italian dinner, this is not the place to be. Expecially the pasta, that is the main course, was disappointing: little portions, bland flavours and barely warm enough and overcooked pasta! The location and the singing waitress were friendly and helpful ( even if you have the feeling that you having a dinner during... More

Restaurant is famous for the wait staff that sing while you dine. They sing everything from opera to classic rock. They are terrific. Food was very tasty and included just pasta dishes served family style. Large portions including an anti pasta table with meats and cheeses. You'll love the experience.

Amazing restaurant with good served Italian pasta. We have gone early but were sitted in a lovely corner until our reserved table was ready. wine list was also good, the ambiance was great with all the staff started singing.

Every time I visit Amsterdam I have to visit this Restaurant. Surrounded by an amazing outdoors once inside you find yourself in a different reality. Careful :) it's not a prank when any of the staff members will suddenly start singing with a mike in the hand in the middle of the Restaurant plus, after ordering your drinks you will... More

A colleague had told me about Pasta e Basta and that it was his favourite place in Amsterdam and after our visit Sunday I am see why. From the moment my wife and I arrived at Pasta e Basta the staff was friendly and welcoming. We were early for our reservation but we were seated without fuss. The wine list... More

This a restaurant with a difference. The waiters sing (lovely songs of different styles) every 10-15 minutes. As a result the atmosphere is truly special. The food is also very good, especially the antipasti (you can have as much of them as you like!). Pasta also good and tasty but slightly overcooked (Italians prefer it 'al dente'). Cost not high...
