Pasta e Basta restaurant nearly opposite the Rijksmuseum has a name that simply doesn’t do it justice. It means ‘pasta full stop’ but really should trumpet the singing accomplishments and mad party atmosphere that the waiters and waitresses deliver. The dining room is splendid, with scarlet-covered chairs, flouncy wall sconces, dramatic drapes and fine art, while the bar area is more modern but just as operatic. The wait staff really truly can sing, everything from Billy Joel to grand opera, and they get the joint jumping. The long tables attract hens and big groups and the small cosy niches and bar are right for more intimate numbers, and it is just one fantastic evening. The menu is Italian, incorporating excellently-sourced meat, fish and veg. Anti pasti are served buffet-style from a chilled grand piano. Main courses always include eight pasta dishes like spaghetti with squid ragout, lasagne bolognaise with tapenade and sage, and penne with radicchio and goats cheese. International wine list matches the international musical programme. Groups are so welcome, and the entire venue seats 110.

Read about this restaurant with singing staff and not disappointed. Not the cheapest of Italian pasta houses but worth that but extra. Portions were fresh and plentiful. If you want a different night out then give it go, you can also say to friends you've eaten where some of the stars have as pictures of them dotted around.

We booked a table for six. Lovely seats by the paino. Food was excellent. Best prosecco in Amsterdam too!! Service amazing and the singing was better than any of these rubbish talent shows on TV here in Blighty. Excellent value Thank you to all at Pasta E Basta

I have surprised with the poor quality food. The worst pasta you can eat and about the risotto....dont ask. The singing waitresses program repeats every 1 hour which makes you feel you have to eat and leave within an hour. Never again there

Dear Pasta e Basta, I write to you to say thank you for looking after us last Tuesday. We came with Heineken for two nights in Amsterdam. You may remember us? We were the noisy table of 16…  The food, service and music we received from your team were excellent. My team enjoyed every minute of their stay with... More

My boyfriend chose this place as a romantic surprise for our anniversary and it was a great choice! You probably already know that this place is especially prominent for its amazing talented waiters who are actually great singers. But I didn't know that so for me it was a very unexpected thing when they started singing while we were enjoying... More

An unusual place to eat, I think there are only two sittings we had a late one. The atmosphere was great, it's an intemate restaurant with an an unusual menu. A buffet starter served from a chilled grand piano, followed by a selection of pasta which you mix and match. The entertainment is very special the waiters & waitresses take... More

When we got there, I just thought is another pasta place. My friend wanted to surprise me so I didn't know what to expect. Well, what an amazing surprise! Not only the staff is extremely friendly and make you feel welcome, they sing this well! Every waitress or waiter will perform one song! Extraordinary! I only voted 4 stars because... More

My wife and I visited this restaurant on Christmas eve 2014. We booked it over 3 weeks in advance and managed to secure a 9.15pm slot. It appears they operate in seatings i.e. All customers go in at once so please don't give up at the door if you see a queue! It was awesome! The atmosphere was cozy, wine... More

If you do have time and plan ahead, you should get a table here. The restaurant looks really nice, but obviously it's the staff who make it amazing. I've never been so impressed by a restaurant before that I keep talking about it to everyone. This was it. They sung their heart out (when we got there, it was the... More
