fantastic restaurant in a classic setting.

I dined at La Rive recently and was very impressed. I am no stranger to top Michelin restaurants and though this one has but a single star I enjoyed it more than some restaurants with two or even three. La Rive, situated on the river Amstel in the prestigious Amstel Hotel, for me is the best restaurant in Amsterdam, and top10 in the world. Everything here is perfect: location (what a view), staff (courteous but friendly, extremely knowledgable), the ambiance, the (selection of) food, the wine. If it were not so expensive (but worth every cent) I would go... More

This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The service is impressive, the food is wonderful, the wine pairing is great with some very interesting choises. It is expensive, but the experience is wonderful.

Holding many prestigious awards and a Michelin star, lunch or dinner at la Rive will strike you with a gracious blend of classic comfort and innovative elegant culinary adventure. In a delightful waterfront setting you will be surprised by Chef Rassin’s quest for personal umami and unique signature in taste and picture perfect presentation. Rassin’s signature amuse of a simple... More

On a rainy day in Amsterdam in December this was the perfect stop. Lunch at La Rive is a delightful experience. No dish failed - not one. The staff are attentive and really know their job. The dining room itself is beautiful. I utterly recommend this.

With one Michelin Star and every credential to merit two or three, this classical restaurant is by far the most elegant in the city. Making top marks with virtually every other European restaurant rating organization, it is difficult, based on my experience here, to fathom why Michelin has only awarded one star to La Rive, for nothing is amiss here.... We were lucky enough to enjoy a meal at La Rive recently while travelling to Amsterdam. It was sublime. The food was absolutely amazing, we had four little tasters before we even recieved a menu! Each item was expertly described and as delicious as it looked. The staff are the highest calibre and the service was exemplary. We thoroughly enjoyed... More

Now that I'm a mommy, my partner and I don't get out to restaurants as often as we use to (the little one is 3 months). We had heard really great things about La Rive, and although the atmosphere and ambiance is a bit ... "traditional" aka old school and over our usual price range, we thought we'd give it... More
