well, actually my review would be between avarge and very good, but read below

Nice central location, but that also means the restaurants is popular with and a bit focused on tourists. For sure there are better indonesian restaurants in town, but they do a decent job, the taste off the food is good and when ordering a rice tabe for 2 you get a nice deal. Friendly staff

Went here for dinner on the recommendation of a friend back home. Indonesian food seems to be to the Dutch as Indian is to the British; and, just like curry houses in the UK the quality and value can vary enormously depending on where you go. The menu at Kantjil has a good variety of different dishes with veg, beef,... More

Went to try the 'rice table' and we were not disappointed. A wonderful variety of different Indonesian dishes.

Just okay. Indonesian food is everywhere in Amsterdam, so don't think that this place is a specialty in and of itself. It's absolutely cavernous on the inside and can seat hundreds of people at once, but food takes a long time to come out. Everything here was just okay- few things actually were deliciously balanced. Sauces were often overly sweet... More

We arrived in Amsterdam tired and hungry and found this place just 5 minutes walk from our hotel. We really enjoyed the Indonesian food, served almost like a meze. We all had one of the mixed plate meals and everyone found something they enjoyed. In particular there was a beef rendang dish that was gorgeous. The service was good and... More

In the Jordaan, adjacent to 9 Streets area, we stopped into this restaurant because the food people were enjoying at the sidewalk tables looked delicious. We wanted a mid afternoon snack that wouldn't be too heavy and ruin our dinner. The menu had many choices, ranging from appetizers to meals, and also offered a "high tea" or "high wine" set... More

I have never had Indonesian food before, but found this meal to be delicious! We ordered the rice table for 2 (even though we were a party of 3, this was still plenty and a cheaper option) with an extra bowl of rice. It was very tasty and service was good too.

Centrally located in Spui, this is a well known, established indonesian restaurant. It offers a good mix of rijsttafel, and a la carte dishes, and accepts credit cards. The specials are worth taking. You can order take-away round the back.

How is it possible to serve 13 dishes for 60 euros (2 person meal) that all tastes awful? Well, this restaurant did it! Very welcoming staff, however the food was a huge disappointment. All the meats were way to dry, veggies overcooked (including the rice (!)). Bad experience, not recommended! I hope they do something about the quality as the... More

Went to this Indonesian restaurant for dinner today. We ordred a "to share" menu for two (13 dishes) and we were exited to try some indonasian food. The food were sadly very disappointing. The meat and the fish was dry and covered with sauces that all tasted the same. The vegetables was overcooked. Even the Rice was dry and tasteless..... More

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
