This place is very central. I looked at other Indonesian Restaurants for my half-day in Amsterdam. Kantjil was both open for lunch and affordable, a combination unique to Kantjil. It may seem pricey, but it is 33% less than the other Indonesian restaurants that were open for lunch. The service was... read more

We SO much wanted to like this restaurant. But while the location was central, the décor attractive, and the staff both friendly and helpful, our luncheon was disappointing. The puff pastry of our luke-warm martabak was gummy and tasted as though it had been prepared many hours earlier, and the chunks of beef in our rendang were overcooked; grey in... More

Our 1st Indonesian restaurant in Amsterdam - the place is pretty nicely designed. The food is not too bad - rather expensive in our opinion. Do not expect 100% genuine Indonesian taste though, but don;t get us wrong - the food is not too bad at all. Ordered the ice tea (forgot what it was) and found it taste great

I tried Kantjil & de Tijger for the first time at the beginning of my trip, and then ended up being there 3 times in one week! This was my favorite restaurant that I went to while I was in Amsterdam. Definitely try it!

We had heard about the Indonesian food in Amsterdam and the Ristaffel (Rice tables) so we decided to try it. While our Ristaffel was OK, it had very little meat for 2 people, lots of veggies that we did not enjoy. That was €30 for 2 people. The kids got the choose your own bowl and it came all mixed... We went to try this place because it was recommended by several travel guides. If you have tried Indonesian food elsewhere in Amsterdam, then this place is way overhyped. The food is mediocre. Sauces are good but meat selections are low quality and overcooked. We tried the Rijsttafel and a noodle soup dish. For its location, which is extremely touristy,... More

Ristaffel is a must. Place your rice in the middle of the dish and encircle it with any of the multitude of food choices from seasoned meats to a variety of vegetables. Great way to try a variety of dishes. Lunch prices are especially reasonable for this option.

We went for the risttafel for 2 people, and got a generous selection of Indonesian dishes. There were lots of interesting flavour combinations, and more than enough food. However, 2 of the meat dishes and the fish on skewers were a bit overcooked and dried up, although the sauces were very tasty. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and the restaurant... More

An amazing resturant you can tell it was a great one by the amount of people waiting! The quality of the food and flavour combinations used are absolutely devine. Me and the Mrs ordered a set menu think it was about 30 euro i dont know cause i smoked before so was levitating in my chair while waiting for our... More
