We visited on a Friday evening, it was very busy. We ordered the rijsttafel (mixed sharing dishes). It was excellent, about 10 different dishes, from meat curries, fried rice, Indonesian salads, chicken wings/thigh etc.. The flavours were excellent. We couldn't fit in a dessert. The service was quick & staff were pleasant. Would recommend to those who enjoy Asian flavours.

We made a booking at Kantjil & de Tijger based upon a recommendation in a Lonely Planet guide. Upon arrival we found the restaurant pretty busy and noisy and we were seated on a table for two near the bar area. We ordered a couple of their Rijsttafels with drinks and they arrived pretty promptly. The plates were overflowing with... More

Been here a few times before a couple of years ago and loved it. Decided to bring some friends this time and it was extremely disappointing. Terrible, terrible service and average rijstaffel. It feels like the place has taken a turn for the worst. No longer recommend.

Perfect for lunchtime on a cold winters day! Some really different warming dishes served beautifully. The noodle broths are delicious as are the spicy pittas on the lunch menu. Nice selection of wines too. Very inexpensive and pleasant staff. Nice and ambient with candles & chill out music. This was my 4th time here and never disappointed.

There was eight of us at the kantjil, even though we reserved we had to wait at the bar until our table was ready, but that was ok as they did offer us a drink on the house. Once we were seated at our table we enjoyed the platters to share and they were very good! I am not saying... More

We tried the rijsttafel and a chicken sandwich in a pita. Delicious. Went for lunch and walked right in. Might be busier at dinner time/

We decided to go to this restaurant on our last night in Amsterdam. We were seated very quickly and the waitress said she would come back to take our drinks order shortly. 10 minutes later she came back and realised she had not given us the drinks menu so she went and fetched them for us. A further 10 minutes... More

A happy friendly restaurant serving (among other things) rijstaffel, which is not fine dining, but rather lots of little taster dishes of Indonesian origin. Great fun to share with friends and enjoy a lovely tasty experience. Recommended.

We ate here twice in April 2014, once for lunch and once for the Indonesian tea. Lunch was good and not too expensive; we all liked our food and especially the Indonesian iced tea with lemongrass, mint, and other tasty things. We came back for the tea because it sounded fun, and it was--we got a tiered tray of bite-size... More

Went here today with three friends visiting the Netherlands. As a resident of the Netherlands I have had plenty of Indonesian food over the years and this wins hands down as the worst rijstafel...by a landslide. 48 € later for three people we had a cold dish of tofu with green beans where the tofu was tough as rubber, a...
