I tend to go to the same old favourites when I visit Amsterdam. Two of them - d'Vijff Vlieghen and Haesje Claes - are both housed in charming old buildings that give you that feeling that you could have stepped back in time. While Haesje Claes serves traditional rustic Dutch food, however, d'Vijff Vlieghen serves very upscale fine cuisine. Sometimes... More

We had a fantastic time at the Five Flies, excellent food, service and ambience. I would recommend it any one who wants a little culture with their food, while visiting Amsterdam.

We visited the Five Flies on our last night in Amsterdam as I had seen it in a listing of the best restaurants for Dutch food (which we struggled to find during our visit). It did not disappoint and in fact, exceeded my expectations. The staff are courteous and friendly and were very welcoming when it came to exploring the... More

I have visited Amsterdam every year for the past 6 years and each year I go with a group to this restaurant. It is a true gourmet experience. I highly recommend doing the Chef's tasting with wine pairings. the meal is delicious and always something new.

Great place, good food, good service, wide selection of wine even if the Aloxe corton 2010 was sold out. Centrally located. Interior is a must see.

Very fun restaurant to visit - great building, convenient location, and excellent service. Waitress was very attentive without being overwhelming. Food was good as well - loved the main course and dessert. A must-visit in Amsterdam.

After we entered we were immediately greeted by the manager and our coats and luggage were being taken to the wardrobe by a friendly and very attentive young waiter. We were directed to our seats underneath 2 Rembrandt etchings , something that extremely thrilled my tablemate, who is an admirer of Rembrandt. What a great start of the evening. Our... More

Dear guest, Thank you very much for your extensive and well written review. All our colleagues give a tour when there is time for this, not only 1 person. A tour/explanation of the restaurant is not a standard item, but is only done when time allows this. Nice to read that our colleague provided you an excellent tour and was... More

This restaurant is a must for anyone who enjoys top cuisine at a very reasonable price... yes, everybody! The restaurant is unique ( 5 houses into one) and even has authentic Rembrandt scketches on the walls, beautiful old place dating back to 1627. If I say that the interior was better than the food one would assume that the food is great but it isn't. The restaurant is very claustrophobic and you literally have to crawl through some passages to get from the ground level to the first floor. Once you get to your table choose your food wisely as there are some... More

Dear guest, Thank you for posting a review. Sorry to read that you did not like our interior. Our restuarant is indeed narrow with small staircases, this is how it was in the 17th century and that is what our restaurant would like to show and which is appreciated by as good as all our guests, sorry you have experienced... We visit Amsterdam every year at the end of November and have eaten at the Five Flies for many years now. We find the atmosphere very pleasant and intimate due to division of the restaurant into numerous small dining areas. The decor is also very pleasing. This year we ate from the special menu that was being offered. The choices... More
