Lovely restaurant

First thing you notice when you walk in is the lovely decor, it essentially brings the 1600s back to life. Without the plague. Staff were nice and our waiter looked after us very well. The food was remarkable, we did a 6 course degustation and couldn't fault anything. Portion sizes were excellent... read more

We had tried to get into more highly rated restaurants only to find that we should have booked a week or two in advance so we arrived at this booking with an attitude of this will have to do. It was much better than we had expected and seemed much less touristy than we had feared. We were in the... More

My wife and my sister in law and husband visited this restaurant a few weeks back. The first thing to say is the decor is amazing and the food of a superb standard. You won't be disappointed if you are looking for a high end meal and an excellent setting. There are, however, two comments I would make: I had... More

Having visited once before with my family, I was really keen to bring my boyfriend here for a special dinner in September 2014. The setting is beautiful and the restaurant is a collection of traditional Amsterdam town houses joined together which makes for a really special and romantic atmosphere. Upon arrival we each had a g&t which was beautifully made... More

We ate here in early November for a birthday meal on our first full night in Amsterdam. We had a great table by the window and the layout is really quirky, which makes for a pleasant experience. Service is great also, we opted for a set-menu evening and it did not disappoint, we also elected to have the matching wines... More

We went for my girlfriends 18th birthday and we had the most amazing time All the staff went out of their way to say happy birthday and talk to us about our stay in Amsterdam. The food was incredible, served beautifully and cooked to perfection. We had the beef and mash, and it was absolutely divine. The beef was indescribably... More

I really enjoyed the delicious Dutch dishes, in a traditional, 1600's canal house. It is every bit of a museum, as a restaurant. But, make no mistake, what you get here is quality service and tasty dishes. For locals and tourists alike, if you are interested in good Dutch food in a central location, go here. Tip: after dinner, take... More

Two friends recommended this. But I will not be recommending it to others. While the space (old canal houses joined together) was interesting, I found the food bland. The server was pleasant and helpful. But the warmth I found in other restaurants - in welcoming, in saying goodbye at the door at the end - was absent. Maybe just an... More

My second time at d'Vijff Vlieghen and not disappointed: the food was carefully prepared and more abundant servings than I recalled: the scallops starter was impeccable and the grilled beef was perfectly served, all complemented by a reasonable wine list. The waiters could be friendlier and more engaging, but are professional and attentive nonetheless. Great venue, as largely devoid of... More

An amazing older world's restaurant from the 1600's. The atmosphere is lovely, the staff friendly and helpful and the food amazing. Set menu or a la carte - good choice of wines and if you like a bit of history the waiters are only too pleased to share the story with you.
