Restaurant d'Vijff Vlieghen is situated in 5 17th Century houses. The restaurant is decorated with many antique objects from the 17,18th and 19th Century. You will find amongst others 4 original etchings of Rembrandt, rare Glassware from the 17th Century and original Delft Blue tiles from the 17th and 18th Century. A romantic dinner for 2 in one of our cosy corners is possible, just as a private dining or large (business) dinners

A Different Food Experience

We went as a small group of business people but it looks like the sort of place which is equally good for a business meeting (albeit a relaxed one) as an intimate tete a tete. The service is excellent, very helpful, and the food is amazingly diverse. We had a six course taster menu which consists... read more

Fabulous experience, great food, a wonderful and amusing waiter, all put together in a quaint lively restaurant. This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend and he didn't get it wrong

This restaurant offers marvelous Dutch cooking in a beautiful traditional Dutch setting. This is a large restaurant with lots of small rooms. Everything was tasty. If there is one restaurant should be on the top of anyone's list for a visit to Amsterdam.

The buildings and decor are so pretty. Old old buildings with very short doorways so duck your head! We try to visit d'Vijff Vlieghen whenever we're in Amsterdam because offered is a truly unique taste of Holland. The food is utterly fantastic and we always find a dish that we've never had before. I can't put my finger on exactly... More

We have eaten at the Five Flies twice and both times the meals, service and atmosphere have been wonderful. The menu is interesting and the food beautifully presented and nothing was a bother to the staff. The building was built in 1627 and restaurant open just before WW2 and the decor set in a old Dutch canal house is very... More

I really liked this place. We had a private room which was very atmospheric. The food was excellent, the service attentive. Difficult to fault.

I visited the restaurant with a group of colleagues and client. Party size icreased at last minute and the manager was able to accomodate our request with no problem. Staff is friendly but very professional. We tried the 6 courses menu: 2 fish, 2 meat, cheese and dessert. Sword fish and fillet were my favourite. Cheese was delicious but the... More

We had a good experience in this restaurant set in a very old building. It was quite fascinating to look at the inside of the building and the furniture and displays of antique items. The food was good and they have quite a big wines list. We enjoyed wine with our starters, main course and one dessert to share. This... More

We've chosen the place for a friend's recommendation and did not regret a minute of the choice. It's very atmospheric - stylish and homely at the same time, romantic and poshy - the right balance of all element. Cuisine is superb! We took a set of meals and enjoyed degustation. Good selection of wines. The staff is professional, attentive however... More

I've eaten here about 10-15 times for over 30 years. Every time I've come from the US. However, I've been turned away many more times prior to the internet. Don't recommend showing up the same evening unless you have a good concierge. We only had one evening in Amsterdam last week and this is my go to place. This restaurant... More
