The best restaurant in Amsterdam

My husband visits Amsterdam often for work. This was my first trip, and wanted to have a special meal. I made us a reservation at this restaurant based on the recommendation of the Luxe app. My husband said it's the best food he's ever had in Amsterdam. We chose the 4 course menu, and as there were... read more

We booked in advance and had a table outside which was lovely and quiet, bearing in mind its location in the Red Light District. It's a limited, set menu, but it's very interesting. The food was very nice, our choice of wine wasn't great but there you go and we did wait a long time for our main courses, whilst... More

Never mind the location - I've brought business colleagues and even my mother for spectacular dinners here. Wonderful wine list. Once you make your way down the alley, it's a quiet and peaceful garden. Highly recommended!

Strange to find such a good place between two strip clubs, under another strip club and above a further "live porn" show... But it was amazing - limited menu, but done amazingly well. I'd rather have a few dishes done really well than have a huge array of dishes. Special mention to the lamb tartar - outstanding dish. And the... More

This is a foodie mecca. Very inventive well done menu that evolves. One of the best meals I have ever eaten. It is expensive and only a foodie would value the experience. I was traveling solo and was very well served.

I was very tempted to cancel when I saw where it was, but my husband said lets try it. We went into a pretty courtyard, we had the three course menu, it was amazing and all the staff were very helpful and friendly,

This is a charming restaurant in a lovely quiet courtyard outside the hustle of the red light district. Has a great menu - but it seemed to depend on what you order - all the seafood was fantastic, but I didn't enjoy the rabbit at all - very bland and gelatinous. However, the salty chocolate mousse was out of this... More

Had 4 course set menu. Fantastic dinner! Hidden gem in Red Light district. Nice and quiet, in beautiful setting. Don't be scared by where the entrance to restaurant is.

Decent food, a tad bit too pricey, but a beautiful, romantic court yard - which makes you forget the crowds of tourist in the red light district. Service was good enough (and that is already quite something in Amsterdam).

Although a little bit expensive, this place is outstanding. Hidden in the middle of the red light district, offers great cooking and wine. Out of my 6 visits to Amsterdam, the best place so far

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
