Very nice restaurant right in the red light district. Despite being in the red light district you do not hear or see all the comotion as you go down a small alley to the restaurant. We ate outside and had a very enjoyable meal. Our soup appetized was delicious

We were first offered a table outside because the weather allowed it. These tables were dirty (old rainwater and flowerbuts) and the waiter didn't even clean ours when we sat down there. When asked what we want to drink I asked the waiter if they have a house apéritif. I was responded to with a rude remark and offered to... More

9 years ago, I visited this place for a business meeting, where we had a very good dinner. Tonight, I decided to invite my lovely wife, hoping they were able to meet my memories of a quality evening and dinner. My expectations were indeed met, and I would like to thank all of the staff for an outstanding menu and... More

The restaurant is a sanctuary. From the moment we came in and were seated with a glass of gin tonic and some snacks, until we left several hours, we were served several really nice dishes from their set menu. The service can seem a bit unpersonal at first, but these are fun and informal staff once you open up yourself.

As an Italian, as you might imagine, my food quality standards are remarkably high. Nevertheless having dinner at this restaurant was an interesting experience. The service was good and the food very good as well. I surely recommend it. The price is in line with the food.

As others have pointed out, you wouldn't guess you were about to have a fine dining night given the neighborhood--the Red Light district. But the location is only the first surprise. The food is inventive, delicious, and expertly prepared. The staff are professional, but friendly--we ended dinner with a lengthy discussion of football--the Dutch were playing Argentina that night--and some... More

Of the three upscale restaurants we visited, this one was disappointing. The good was very mediocre. We enjoyed some if the courses, but the fish was very dry and overall the good lacked flavor. The wine list was limited but had some nice selections.

Fine dining in Amsterdam. Just a little off the beaten path, which keeps it quiet. Reservations a must. The menu changes every 2 weeks. Will be heading back there in 3 months. Can't wait. Outside dining if weather permits

Blauw aan de Wal is tucked in an alley in the seedy red light district; you most probably will walk by the place if you are not paying close attention, which is hard to do with the Lupercalian revels taking place in the streets all around you. Once you enter the place it is refreshingly bright, particularly the upstairs rooms... More

Some colleagues and I ate some weeks ago in Blauw aan de Wal. I had seen some good reviews. Unfortunately, the restaurant did not distinguish itself from the most restaurants in Amsterdam. Much pretensions and only mediocre performances. All right, we had some nice food, but nothing really special. Except the price. We had a three course menu for 59... More
