Really nice!

A nice gourmetplace in the middle of red light district! A former Michelin chef started this place and a good job he did! Friendly and really nice flavours, 55 Euros for a 3 coursemeal.

Perfect ambiance in classic setting, great service, excellent food. A night to remember. The trick is to look for the name sign on the Oudezijds Achterburgwal and enter the alleyway that leads to the entrance. Once in the courtyard, no noise of the RLD can be heard. I highly recommend this restaurant.

In the very heart of the red light district, lies this hidden gem of Amsterdam. A seasonal and changing every two weeks menu, was easily the best meal I had in Amsterdam. It also is definitely one of the top 5 meals I have ever had. Veal tongue, risotto, and the duck were unbelievable. If you travel to eat, then... More

Lovely restaurant with heat food and laid back but attentive and friendly staff. Don't be put off by the fact that this restaurant is in the heart of the RED light district as it is certainly worth. The menu is limited but what you get is amazing. We started with veal tongue for me and salmon tartar for my wife.... More

Really wonderful food and wine. We were served by a great waiter who knows the wine cellar and was able to recommend wine for all courses of the meal and what great recommendations they were! Not a large menu, but it was not difficult to find mouth watering dishes. It was our last night in Amsterdam and we wanted to... More

The entrance is hidden, it's in the middle of the red light district. When you come in this is the least what you expect in this area. Tastefully simple decorated rooms with a few tables per room. The food is wonderful; 3 or 4-courses, choices between fish or meat for starters and mains. I came with a business group of... More

Dined here as a four with a Dutch couple - the chap is one of my husband's work colleagues, and he chose it. The area is really pretty daggy. The restaurant is down a little alley so you need to watch out for the "Blauw" sign on the wall between all the sex shops. Once inside it's a totally different... More

I have had Blauw aan de Wal on my list for several years, but because they didn't take reservations electronically we somehow never made it (they do take reservations online now). We just went ahead and called this time (we have some dietary restrictions and I know it's a set menu) and are glad we did. Many others have written... More

Sadly lacking. Service was pretentious. Menu sounded good but was lacking in taste. A glass of wine is 2 ounces or was that the waiter emptying the last of the bottle between the three of us and thinking we wouldn't notice? Not worth it.

We dined here on Christmas Eve 24 December 2013 on the recommendation of the concierge at the Sofitel where we were staying. Tucked away in a dark alley behind a heavy blue curtain this wonderful small restaurant in the red light district could easily be assumed to be part of the 'seemier' side of the city. Not so! Once entry... More
