Fine dining and 1st class service in this historic Amsterdam house.

A large group of us on a business conference had dinner here. We had the whole of the upstairs area. Housed in a 16th century burgher's house, this restaurant serves excellent Dutch "nouvelle" cuisine. The staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly from the moment you walk in. The food is innovative and well-prepared. Not a bargain hunter's place, but well worth a visit. The waiter provides a history of the house as he takes your order!

In Amsterdam for the evening with my (Dutch) lady. A special treat at De Silveren Spiegel. Oldest restuarant in the city with wonderful Dutch cuisine. We both started with smoked eel - something we can't get in TExas. It was heerlijk! Then on to a North Sea fish medley for my lady and some beef with a "tosti" of Limburgerse... More

We spent our first evening in Amsterdam with 6 new and old friends at this most charming restaurant. It is a family owned "experience". The owners were wonderfully entertaining with their explanations of the history of the building. The ambiance with the original tiles around the fireplace. The food was very good and was a special menu because the next... More

We ate at this establishment late in the evening after a two-day conference we hosted for our clients, and the small team of us were quite impressed by the ambience (it's a really crooked house!) and the food. The staff, and particularly our waiter was very friendly, giving the extensive history of the building and the restaurant between courses of... More

The restaurant is located in a beautiful old building with lots of history. The setting is very pretty but the food is too expensive and the service is very slow. It took more than 1.5 hours for the main course to be served. I had to ask the waiter several times about the food and all he said is that... More

We didn't have a reservation and they got us a table :) . We were a group of 4 and my wife and I had the 4-course meal. They paired wines throughout the dinner which were all very good. My sister and her husband were very pleased with there meal as well. After a great dinner the Owner of the... More

Only 1 menu with the choice of 3 courses, 4 courses or 5 courses and with or without wine. The food is very nice and the wine is nice too. A bit pricey but this is what you will expect from such place.

As we were on the second floor, it's quite unusual to eat in a leaned room, as many Amsterdam house that tend to sink on one side. Service was very frindly with very good advice on wines. The fixed price menu was very good with a creative first course (veal with potatoes and salmon and an apple celery juice) and... More

Walking without the purpose the streets of beautifull Amsterdam, we became hungry just by the doors of De Silveren Spiegel :-) Additional reason was the announcment that here we can try traditional Dutch kitchen. There is no much such a restaurants in Holland :-) Usually I found a lot of steakhouses and Italian and asian places. And instead of really... More
