Meets virtually all your food and drink needs whilst in Amsterdam, however if you want to buy spirits like whiskey etc... You may struggle! The Dutch seem quite happy with a little beer or wine. There's many of these store in the city ( we found at least five) , but they can be difficult to locate at first -... More

Visited 3 stores while on a short break, the one at Dam Square being the largest. Just wish you could get half the stuff over here in England. A must visit!

We found ourselves in the Heijn store in Waterlooplein at least every other day. You can count on them for freshness and variety, both with their groceries and their prepared foods.

I loved shopping some treats and soft drinks at the Albert Heijn grocery stores. There were a lot of them in the central part of Amsterdam. Pretty jealous that these medium sized supermarkets are so much better then what we have of the same size here in Norway.

This is the biggest outlet we have been. When we feel like a takeaway meal, it offers wide choices of pasta or green salads, cold cuts of meat and bread among other things.. However would like to add that having been to the UK before arriving in Amsterdam and in comparison, prices are generally higher here.

As we have settled in Amsterdam for two weeks, a daily shop at Albert Heijn has become a part of our morning routine. The prices are reasonable, the bakery has fresh products daily, and we love the selection of yogurts, cheeses, and fresh-squeezed juices. Love how they have a lot of products that can be easily cooked for dinner or... More

We visited the stores on Koningsplein and Van Baerlestraat. The Van Baerlestraat location is MUCH bigger. Both were very close to where we were staying at the Marriott. They were open on Easter Sunday and even on Koningsdag. It is awesome that they stay open until 2000. This chain was cheaper than other convenience stores. The french bread was always... More

Albert Heijn is a supermarket found over Amsterdam & Holland. You can find salads, sandwiches and ready made meals at a very cheap price. The bakery was delicious with every type of bread and pastries and cakes to die for. The prepared salads were very filling and delicious. We bought from Amsterdam stores and from The Hague and were very... More

Albert Heijn is not the cheapest in Amsterdam, but the most frequently found. It is everywhere! One of the largest is near Dam square. They are also open late and on Sundays (which is not so common here).

If you are staying in a self-catering facility ... a boat, a room, a house - with a kitchen ... you'll want to find food to prepare and save money on eating out every meal during your visit. If you can't find a local market, like the Dappermarkt, find a blue and white Albert Heijn store! With all your basics,... More
