This place was right round the corner from our hotel and it was amazing. Their coffees were huge, tasty, well presented and very well priced! The main room is filled with comfortable seating and small tables, and the sound system playing a mix of 20s-40s swing and jazz with really added to the atmosphere. I only sampled the paninis, but... Stopped in this small shop before going to The Resistance Museum, which is nearby. In addition to a variety of drinks, they shop also had some food (small sandwiches, pastries) on their menu. I got the hot chocolate, which consisted of warmed milk and some chocolate pieces that you stir in to the milk. The end result was pretty good--I... More

I came here for breakfast - quick friendly service, lots of options. Cosy tables inside or out to eat in, though I tended to take away. Recommended

Very nice and cozy place to take your breakfast. Chairs and armchairs are very confortable, you have a well furnished kid corner. You can choose among different kinds breakfasts: you can drink just an espresso or chose to eat an English breakfast. Tourists as well as Amsterdammers go there. Staff is very nice. You can rent bikes and you can... More

This restaurant is now called Coffee and Art and the pictures do not represent the current condition of the area. We used the restaurant for breakfast after staying in the Hampshire Hotel, the restaurant is worth a visit and is very good value.

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
