Planned to have a really decent breakfast before catching the train, pancakes, waffles, bacon, etc. This is more a cakes and coffee place before noon. After that, there's more choice, although the staff were really friendly and probably would have obliged! Delicious cinnamon cake.

We went in there to have a breakfast and we ordered their breakfast deal, it was ok but really small even for myself that don't eat much. So comparing the price with the quantity of food is a bit expensive. The staff were really nice.

In this trendy place you can get a good lunch which is prepared in the open kitchen almost next to your table. The food is good and the quiche and cakes are delicious. It is situated in the red light district, going here in day time allows you as well to see this neighbourhood in a completely different light as... More

Wandered passed this little café and went back a few hours later for lunch. Thoroughly recommended. Handmade fresh sandwiches were delicious - as was the bacon and cheese crossaint. Not many seats. Friendly staff. Small open kitchen. Free wifi. Easy going background music. A great find.

We were looking for a restaurant that served late breakfasts near to our hotel to allow my Wife a late lie in (medical conditions). I found Sugar and Spice online and it proved to be an excellent choice only 5 mins slow walk from our hotel (The Grand Amrath). Check out the full menu etc on their website. The boys... More

Found this place on Yelp, and it definitely lived up to the good reviews. It's right behind the Red Light District, and is a lovely reprieve from all the tourist craziness of that area. They serve amazing coffee, delicious baked goods, and OMG the quiche. Absolutely recommend getting the brunch platter. It gives you a taste of everything. And trust... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
