Amsterdam is known for its International Cuisine almost more than its local and Dutch food. This being said, Samrat is a great little Indian restaurant that gives you good homey and authentic quality for the quantity that it supplies. One of the things that pleasantly surprised me was how clean, well decorated and orderly the facilities were. The food was... More

I went there with my family to try some Indian food few days ago. I would not suggest any of my friends or family to go there again if they want to try real Indian food. I was really upset with the portion and taste of food esp. Mango lassi, chicken madras.

Delicious food, friendly staff and very reasonable prices. The menu has a really good amount of different dishes, many from specific regional areas of India. The inside is cozy and nicely decorated and the toilets were very clean. This is a really authentic Indian restaurant, without the crossovers into Thai, Surinamese, Chinese etc. cuisine that so many of the other... More

Found this restaurant while walking around looking for some dinner. The food was excellent, the owner very friendly and service was good. The spices in the lamb we had were perfect.

We wandered into this very good restaurant and didn't regret it for a minute. The food is quite tasty - spice blends are excellent. Recommend the Tandoori chicken wings for an appetizer. They were marvelous. Keema Madras was heavenly. If you're looking for a bit of India during your stay in Amsterdam, this is the place. Yum!!

We stopped at this restaurant by coincidence - it's very small in a small side street - not easy to find. Very fine vegetarian curry, good nan, my husband had chicken and was very happy. We enjoyed the evening very much and will come back when we are in Amsterdam again!

Small friendly and clean Indian off in a quiet side street. Played Indian music quietly, tables were clean and restaurant was well presented. Food was quick to come, had one waiter serving in restaurant of 24 seats. Pricewise, one of the better Indians on a student-holiday budget:Chicken special (curry, rice, naan) at €13.50. Chicken biryani at €15.00 (served with vegetable... More

We were walking in the middle of the party area in Amsterdam wondering if it would be possible to find any decent restaurant, as we mainly saw places with loud music and suspicious food offer, when we finally spotted this small Indian place. The place is tiny, just four tables, and located on a side street, so not easy to... More

Me and my friend were very happy with the food here. As I love Indian food and have been to India a couple of times I always search for the restaurants with the food that tastes the most Indian, if you know what I mean... And the food we had was just amazing! It's not a fancy restaurant, but my... More
