Monkey bar is the best bar in the world!

3 years since we last came and still as good! Love everything about this place! Only comment would be that there seems to be slightly less monkeys this time...

This was a superb and fascinating experience. This bar (not sure why it's listed as a restaurant) was special. It's a historic building, full of character. We were told that it's the oldest surviving wooden building in Amsterdam, most of them were destroyed by fire. It was cram packed when we got there as it was Friday evening, but that... More

This is a brown cafe, built in 1557. Lots of memorabilia. A great example with good choice of beers etc. No food when we were here. Music that we liked and not too loud. Readily return given the chance.

a place not to be missed and probably amsterdams oldest bar and inn. The bas still functions and has some decent local and regional beers ( try the Texel variety). The inn has closed long time ago. It's no bigger than a small living room, but that's part of the charm. Great story on the name and one of the... More

Small, older pub decorated with monkey memorabilia that serves alcohol - what's not to like? Plays good music, sometimes felt a bit cramped. Would def go back!

This is a tiny bar located near Central Station at the entrance to China Town. The building is extremely old and was supposedly frequented by sailors. it is one of the stops that I always make when I have a visitor over, and it's always a hit! As far as brown bars go, this is a nice one and I... More

Situated on the Zeedijk this old cafe has all the charm of an old bar. It is a very small bar so space is limited. If there is space pop in but there is alot in the area if no space.

It's not a restaurant, it's a pub! But excellent one! The stuff is friendly and welcome. Great atmosphere and unique interior. Good local and Belgium draught beer. We' like 'La trappe' (draught) and 'Kriek' (bottle one) the most. Everything is not expensive. Snacks are available. Possible to sit outside on stools or chairs. Lots of locals and tourists but it... On my chill-out day after two concerts at Paradiso, I made a beer tour in Amsterdam. I was happy after Twa Swans, still thinking of those huge tree shoes the man from Museum of cheese was wearing... A family of mice could row over the channel in only one tree shoe. Ok. let's back in Zeedijk 1 (the street is... More

We stumbled on this pub, having failed to find the one we were looking for (which was in fact pretty well straight across the street). A good bad piece of navigation. It is full of character, even when the resident cat is slumbering (is that its predecessor stuffed on the shelf above?). Good beer, good atmosphere and, as at least... More
