The taste and quality of traditional cuisine with an innovative twist, you can taste its maximum respect for nature. This philosophy is underscored by the use of fair trade products and ingredients from Italy and Netherlands. For a perfect combination with the regional dishes there are, on the wine card, many available by the glass, small scale and artisan producers from Italy. For these reasons we choose to collaborate with the projects “The Alliance between Cooks and Slow Food Presidia”. Presidia are projects of Slow Food that safeguard small-scale quality productions that use traditional methods.

Within seconds of walking in to Al Bacaro, the owner, Eliano rushed over to welcome us. Though the restaurant was full and our stopping by was a last minute decision, Eliano made us feel like he had been waiting all day for our arrival. The entree's were excellent and they were paired with great wine and a tasty starter. The... More

Having eaten here a few years ago we returned for New Year and had another great meal. Excellent, warm and charming service, always well looked after. Food was honest and delicious, face and chicory a favourite. Veal saltimboca delicious. A great evening in a great restaurant. So many others could learn from this level of service.

We were a party of six and we all very much our visit to this restaurant. We were greeted by the owner/waiter who was just finishing his own tea! Once he had completed this task nothing could have more trouble. The food was lovely, the wine recommendations excellent and the free bottle of limoncello for a minor gripe about the... More

Around the corner from our AirBnB we found Al Bacaro. 1st night was slow and we had the full attention of Eliano (waiter and co-owner), met his lovely wife and sweet son. Eliano guided our selections and all were excellent: antipasti, pasta, beef, wine, desert. Second night, the place was packed and we sat by the kitchen and could watch... More

On a wet evening, we stumbled into al Bacaro and were welcomed by a quirky waiter who I think has to be the owner too. We followed his recommendations and were treated to possibly the best pasta I have ever had. Not cheap, and he'll try to up sell you all the time, but worth the expense and a little... More

I'm usually not happy of going to Italians restaurants when abroad (and now that I live in Amsterdam it's everyday...) but some friends took me to this small one and I'm really happy of having eaten there: great food, good wine, nice people... it worth all!

Nice place! Friendly service. Small card, but you can ask something, and they try to prepare it for you!

Like many others, we came across this restaurant by chance and received warm welcome by the waiter (maybe owner). The dishes were fresh and flavoursome. The presentation was lacking but the food tasted very good. Reasonable prices for the quality of food.

Hi, after walking for miles seeing the sites of Amsterdam we were hungry and tired. We found this wonderful restaurant. The food was spectacular, service great and they chef came out and explained to me (in Italian, which the waiter patiently translated back and forth) how to make a very tasty fennel dish. I'm not a fan of fennel and... More
