The taste and quality of traditional cuisine with an innovative twist, you can taste its maximum respect for nature. This philosophy is underscored by the use of fair trade products and ingredients from Italy and Netherlands. For a perfect combination with the regional dishes there are, on the wine card, many available by the glass, small scale and artisan producers from Italy. For these reasons we choose to collaborate with the projects “The Alliance between Cooks and Slow Food Presidia”. Presidia are projects of Slow Food that safeguard small-scale quality productions that use traditional methods.

We've been at this restaurant three times now because of the great food and the relaxed way of serving the clients. It's a small, a bit narrow, restaurant with a nice photo exposition, it's not a stylist restaurant but the food let you dream away to Italy. The excellent home made slow food dishes are made with passion. Let the... More

al Bacaro, is a small True Italian restaurant that we discovered on our way to the Heineken Experience. I stress TRUE because there are many FAKE Italian restaurants in Amsterdam and we got burnt in one!! After doing some research on the internet I was tempted to go for a TRUE Italian meal. They stress SLOW FOOD which my wife... More

Al Bacaro is a restaurant that you will probably not just dump into if you hadn't read about it before. It is well worth a detour and the friendly host will in a typical Italian style suggest something for you and it is always worth following such advice. Good food, good wine, friendly and fun service...

I see to have had a different experience from others., It was very busy and having waited for a table I was disappointed to find that several of the dishes were no longer available. The wine was pricey for what we got.

We needed a pre- concert early meal and stumbled across this restaurant. It was great. Fabulous food - squid ink pasta with clams is highly recommended - and welcoming owner who was helpful with choices. Given the choice I would eat here every night.

Very personal and excellent service. This place has great italian food, and no tourist pizza on the menu. We enjoyed the great italian atmosphere.

It's ok. The food was very simple and the choice limited. It was a Monday night and we were the only ones in so maybe the atmosphere is usually good. Expensive for something quite ordinary.

Everything about our dinner at Al Bacaro was delightful. The owners are passionate about every detail. Eliano works every table, helping each group discover the food and wine they might enjoy most. We did not see meals or wines repeated at any table. If you go, give Eliano free reign and he will delight you. The other owner, Vezio, spent... More
