The taste and quality of traditional cuisine with an innovative twist, you can taste its maximum respect for nature. This philosophy is underscored by the use of fair trade products and ingredients from Italy and Netherlands. For a perfect combination with the regional dishes there are, on the wine card, many available by the glass, small scale and artisan producers from Italy. For these reasons we choose to collaborate with the projects “The Alliance between Cooks and Slow Food Presidia”. Presidia are projects of Slow Food that safeguard small-scale quality productions that use traditional methods.

Little Italy in Amsterdam

I think this was the fifth time I was here. This restaurant is one of my favourites so I keep coming back. This time I took an Italian friend with me. The result was that without seeing any menus food and a bottle of wine was put on our table. A very nice surprise four course diner it was. I... read more

From the minute we walked through the door we felt so welcome... The service, the food, the atmosphere, the wine... Loved it all...!!!! Made to feel so welcome. A little place you could easily walk past - you really shouldn't. We were asked what food we liked then our dishes were recommended for us - incredible! The owner/manager made us... More

The introduction of dishes and the description of how they are made can really be an art and this guy knows how to do it. With Charm, Fun and Joy ! What a great meal. I had a veggetarian pasta option and it was just the right amount of food. We had a lovely wine with our food and a... More

Italian restaurant located in the Old City center. Manager and staff are all Italians and they really make you feel welcome. A personal touch combined with nice, Italian food. No need to travel to the Mediterranean, just go here. We had a 5 course dinner, including both seafood and meat. All dishes were good. Not huge sized meals, but more... More

From outside, the place doesn't look like much, but once inside, you're welcomed by a very very very friendly atmosphere... The waiter(s) are very friendly, funny, easy-going. They make time for a pleasant chit-chat. We were offered the menu card.. "but......" :) and then the waiter proposed a series of suggestions which, of course, we had to try ! And... More

Within seconds of walking in to Al Bacaro, the owner, Eliano rushed over to welcome us. Though the restaurant was full and our stopping by was a last minute decision, Eliano made us feel like he had been waiting all day for our arrival. The entree's were excellent and they were paired with great wine and a tasty starter. The... More

Having eaten here a few years ago we returned for New Year and had another great meal. Excellent, warm and charming service, always well looked after. Food was honest and delicious, face and chicory a favourite. Veal saltimboca delicious. A great evening in a great restaurant. So many others could learn from this level of service.

We were a party of six and we all very much our visit to this restaurant. We were greeted by the owner/waiter who was just finishing his own tea! Once he had completed this task nothing could have more trouble. The food was lovely, the wine recommendations excellent and the free bottle of limoncello for a minor gripe about the... More

Around the corner from our AirBnB we found Al Bacaro. 1st night was slow and we had the full attention of Eliano (waiter and co-owner), met his lovely wife and sweet son. Eliano guided our selections and all were excellent: antipasti, pasta, beef, wine, desert. Second night, the place was packed and we sat by the kitchen and could watch... More
