... make for an interesting dining experience. My companion and I had the "rice table" for two which is comprised of samples from each Dutch speciality on the menu, and we were very pleased with the various components. The stews were particularly flavorful. The house red wine was a great bargain. This was our best dinner experience of the three... More

I had high expectations because of all the great reviews on TA. Our hotel was able to book a table for us very last minute. The place was packed. Great atmosphere and while we enjoyed ourselves, we felt the food was not what we expected.

We ate here on the basis of such positive reviews on TripAdvisor. I was in town for one night and my folks flew in from the UK for dinner. We were all blown away by how delicious the meal was. It was a special and memorable night.

The restaurant is hip and when possible eat outside on the street! That adds more to the experience. Everything from appetizers to mains to dessert were amazing! We can recommend the two or three course meals. For dessert take the banana pie! It is worth waiting for since they do it fresh it takes around 20minutes. One of the best... More

In my nine day trip through Europe this was an excellent surprise. We went here on the recommendations of other reviewers and it was exactly what we needed. The 2-course and 3-course meals are a tremendous deal and the house wine worked perfectly along side the meal. This restaurant exceeded anything we ate in Paris and we didn't even have... More

I have become quite stingy with 5 star ratings [too much grade inflation on this website]; but Max deserves 5 stars. The three-course, 37 euro prix fixe dinner was superb, our best in A'dam -- savory dishes with Indonesian overlays that were creatively prepared and extraordinarily tasty. With beer, dessert and tea added [we never order wine to accompany richly... More

Great experience at MAX in Amsterdam. First, I recommend making a reservation. We arrived at 7pm and were able to get seated but we watched 5 more couples/parties get turned away. We were super stoked they seated us because it was a great meal! Don't even waste your time trying to figure out what courses to get, go with the... More

Our meal at Max was very good. Much better than average. We wish we would have tried the rice taffle, as that is a specialty of the house, we understand. The entrees were well prepared. The Indonesian desert was exceptionally good. The atmosphere is upscale and pleasant.

During a weekend break in Amsterdam, we came here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. We chose this restaurant based on the excellent Tripadvisor reviews and rating and we weren't disappointed. It was absolutely perfect; central location, reasonably priced, excellent service, delicious food with real flair, plenty of choice; and, a lovely atmosphere. The nicest restaurant I've ever been to; I... More
