Came upon this bistro whilst wandering round Centrum. Took a chance on having dinner as it seemed very inviting and offered some Dutch cuisine. Amsterdam seems to offer more Asian eateries than local fare. We were not disappointed. The food was well cooked and flavoursome. Liver, bacon & onions was sold out ( I really fancied this dish) so I... More

had trout with lemon caper sauce (fish was whole with head on). the caper sauce was more of a mayo dip than a sauce. could have been better. also tried the lamb chops - smaller portion. we were looking for traditional dutch food - didn't meet our expectations. average. 2 wine, 2 entree and 2 french fries = 39Euro

Purely by chance,we entered this small brasserie and it was a very pleasant surprise. Good draft beers and really good food !!! Really good welcome and so typical. I recommend you, liver with bacon and fried crystallized onions. Amazing.

Always a wonderful being treated like "Norm" when you are a tourist in a different country. A pub/bar setting with great food. The meals are very creative and delicious. Service was extremely friendly. Ate there twice once was for lunch and once for dinner, both menus very different, and experience was consistent. (diverse, delicious, and friendly atmosphere.)

We picked this place randomly. It was exactly what we were looking for. We loved the homey atmosphere. The food and drink were great. It is exactly the kind of place that makes you feel like you are in Amsterdam.

We are here because we liked the friendly look of the bar. When we were inside the decor was cozy and pleasant. The staff were great and relaxed, and the food was superb for the price. I'd recommend this to anyone

After a very busy day walking around, we found this little restaurant very close to our hotel, the Roommate Aitana. It has a homey, pub-like neighborhood feel. We were the only non-locals in the restaurant. The prices were very reasonable. The food was fresh & delicous. We both started with a Cream of Asparagus soup that included bits of egg... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
