Excellent food

I can sum up this experience by just saying WOW. We went with the 7 course meal and their suggestions for wine. The menu changes frequently, but you cannot go wrong by spending an evening here. Do plan on spending the entire evening. Our reservations were at 9 pm and we stayed until 1 am enjoying... read more

An excellent restaurant - book well in advance or you might be disappointed. Good menu of the day - excellent cooking and an interesting wine list.

came here with my boyfriend for a nice dinner out and it was recommended to us from someone at our local wine cellar. It did not disappoint, we took the 8 course meal ( i think it was 8) and took a bottle of wine to share. The selection of wine is great and the waiters are very friendly, genuine... More

Visiting friends in Amsterdam. Suggested we visit. Well no regrets. Had the 7 course chefs meal, but started with oysters. Everything I had served was excellent. I even loved the couple of dishes I was presented with and thought ...! It was expensive, but you get what you pay for. Will visit next time in Amsterdam. X

A Wonderful small restaurant, in a great location. The food was delicious. We had a five course menu and every dish was fabulous. A extensive wine list accompanies the wonderful food. The service was superb as well. Not too far from the centre, but well worth making the effort to go. Cannot recommend enough.

Come hungry, order the seven course menu surprise meal with a matching wine arrangement and leave full, tipsy and convinced that Amsterdam can deliver world-standard food. Courses come and go, seemingly small, delightful plates to share, some more substantial and intended for one, exceptional wines served by staff who know what they're doing and why. Conversation ebbs and flows either... More

Imagine...incredible food, lovely atmosphere, snow falling, friendly servers, warm and cozy feeling = winning evening! A special night and one I will remember. Go with people you love and make it a long night. They were also accommodating with food allergies which I very much appreciated.

East of Central Station, and away from the tourist routes, but worth seeking out, this small corner restaurant sits beside a bar and opposite another food place,in a residential area in Pepperstraat. Best to go for 5 course taster meal for 50 euros - great value,as each dish arrives to be shared, starting with smoked eel (easy to eat) then a mushroom dish on... More

We ended up here by accident one night in Amsterdam. We weren't very hungry, just looking for good food before hitting the cocktail that was next door for fancy drinks. This was a mistake, as it turns out the restaurant has a fixed menu and we were frowned upon for asking if we could order a la carte. We ended... More

Be prepared to be flexible and enjoy their fixed menu which offers few options. The food was well prepared and the service charming if a bit ineffective. We had a larger group and were put in a small semi-private downstairs dining room - it was just lovely.

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
