We ate here 3 times in our 5 day stay. The food was very good, the staff always smilling and friendly. We had a different choice each time. Never managed a sweet(they looked great) the price was very good. 2 starters, 2 main meals beer and wine 65 Euros. Look forward to going back.

Had a lovely meal at Orontes. Friendly service, no reservation needed on a a Saturday night (although it was after 9pm). The quality of the meat dishes was very good, all the dishes were very aromatic and cooked perfectly. Also recommendable is the Turkish Red wine for 21 Euro. Really enjoyed the experience, would go back any day.

The dinner I enjoyed at Orontes was superb. Orontes offers Turkish cuisine. My meal consisted of ali nazik appetizer, charcoal grilled whole sea bass, and sutlaç (rice pudding). Each dish was delightfully flavored. Without making any special request, the grilled fish was cooked exactly to my liking, which is moist, with the flesh coming off the bone easily, and not... More

I don't know much about Turkish food but proposed Orontes for dinner with a friend based on the TripAdvisor reviews. We were not disappointed! We had a reservation but for a Thursday night it was relatively quiet. We started with the calamari, which was just ok, as well as the fried/sauteed spinach with garlic and yogurt. The spinach was delicious.... More

The restaurant was busy on the Saturday night and stayed so after 9 (late for Amsterdam). It was a fun atmosphere with friendly staff. The Turkish menu suited both meat eaters and vegetarians well. There was a reasonable selection of wine at different prices and a good choice of tasty food, with excellent flatbread.

The selection of mezze to share for 2 or 3 people is a very good, delicious value for price choice (€34, and €49, respectively). We spent three hours over there, utterly delighted by the 10-12 small dishes they brought us. They have a good selection of Turkish wines, if you fancy that, at €20-30 the bottle. And Turkish coffee and... More

I'm just finished a very tortuous and long trip. Tired. Starving. Jet lagged. Wandering around, saw the other reviews and decided to give it a shot. 1) Efes beer is delicious. 2) the mixed grill was out of this world - maybe the best I've ever had. 3) same for the Greek salad 4) my waitress was amazing. I had... More

The image of Turkish restaurants in Europe is largely dominated by on-the-go Doner Kebap. If this is what you are looking for, Orontes is not the place you are looking for. The name of the restaurant refers to a river reaching the Mediterranean in the Antalya region, and the restaurant specializes on dishes from that region. A true highlight, a... More

Nearly half the residents living in De Pijp are foreigners and a good number of them are students.
