We actually stumbled upon this restaurant searching for another. The food, service, and décor were very lovely; the waiter was very nice to us as we were jet lagged and confused when we arrived. The sitting area with large glass windows in cool Amsterdam was a big plus.

We arrived at Martinot pretty much by accident, and were hugely impressed by chef David's food. We discovered after that this place barely rates on Trip Advisor, but it was superior to two double digit rated places we'd enjoyed on previous nights. We liked it so much we went back the next night with a friend. Dishes to die for... More

Pleasant restaurant. We went in a thursday night and it was quite quiet so the service was very attentive. Food was not pretentious but was very tasty and the portions were generous. I had a vegetarian red curry and my partner had a beef burger with chips. With a beer each the bill came to ?37 so good value.

Nice place to take a break after long walk. Friendly bartender girl. Cosy outdoor seats and a bench, as well plenty of indoors seats. The snacks (oriental rolls with home made hot sauce) and "concrete" meals for lunch if you do not want to spend a fortune in expensive restaurants. I liked beer "Zatte" - beer from Amsterdam brewery. It... More

Picked here, whilst killing a few hours in Amsterdam. The place was very empty so as a result service was near enough immediate. The waitress was very polite and friendly as were kitchen staff who passed through, and the club sandwich I ordered was very tasty and served promptly. Could not pick fault at all! Even thought it was well... More

The place has very calm atmosphere, good service and the clientele were all Dutch. We came there for coffee and cake and much needed rest from walking the city. The coffee was okay, the cheesecake was mediocre and the price was higher than we expected. It was a nice experience and the staff was very friendly, but there are probably... More

It's located near the Concertgebouw and different musea in Amsterdam-Zuid on the van Baerlestraat. A good place to have a lunch if you are in the neighbourhood.

I ate and had a few drinks here before going to the Concergebouw on the other side of the road for a concert. Martonot has a nice pavement area from which to watch the world go by and employs very pleasant and efficient staff. The menu is short but has interesting European and Dutch favourites. I had duck, which came... More

Nice people and Ok ish place, but the cooking . . . . The duck was tough, undercooked and luke warm. The starter, halibut salad, was great if you enjoyed drinking vinegar. By far the worst meal we had in Amsterdam - actually, the worst meal I have had for some time. Expensive too.

Nice little place in the 'museum' district. Food is very good (best lemon tart i've ever had) and the staff are friendly. You can sit outside and watch the cyclists speeding by.
