Home cooked goodness!

One of the best meals I have had and in a great setting as well. The restaurant is down an unassuming residential street not far from both Museumplein and Leidseplein and easily accessible by tram. The restaurant is only open for dinner and seats few, so it fills quickly. Also, no reservations are... read more

This place closes fairly early in the evening, so be warned! It is literally the ground floor of a house which serves delicious authentic home made Dutch food.We all had mushroom soup to start, absolutely delicious. And between us, as mains we had schnitzel, cod and meatballs, al excellent. The food was so good we were tempted to sweets, although... More

We had the beef stew (only €9.50) with masses of sides. It was rich, flavourful and full of delicious tender beef. Not for the health conscious, this family run fabulous restaurant is intimate, friendly and very tasty. Can't beat a €3 sundae. Highly recommended for a flavour of Dutch cooking, and you literally feel like you e been invited into... More

Hap-Ham is a place to visit when in Amsterdam. It has a very cozy and is run out of the family's own home. You sit in the old living room, now turn dining area. This place is a favorite among the locals (by their mere present, they fill up the place good) and you cannot make reservations. It is first... More

Very local, very traditional. very family feel. A long standing family restaurant serving warm and amazing home cooked Dutch delights. Homely feel coupled with warmth of allowing dogs into the lovely place! Highly recommended to visit.

Recommended by our hotel when we said we wanted to eat Dutch cuisine. Only open during the week and the Dutch eat early so we got there just after seven and we were lucky only to have to wait a few minutes for a table. I had the beef Hap-Hmm chef's speciality and it was delicious. The atmosphere was very... More

This restaurant is tucked away in a quite side street and feels just like going to someone's house for dinner, it is very cozy and homely with a mix of tourists and locals. I had the chicken with pepper sauce and my wife had a Wiener schnitzel. Everything was well-cooked and wholesome. Good value for money too by Amsterdam standards,... More

I was in Amsterdam for a couple of days with friends and looking for a restaurant not too expensive with local food. I found Hap-Hmm thanks to tripadvisor and thanks to the comments we found out just in time that it closes really early, the soup of the day was really tasty and the chicken breast was with a green... Eating here is a bit like eating in someone's living room. It's a bit tricky to find, down a backstreet but everyone in there is a local - I don't think I heard anyone speaking English. The staff all spoke fluent English, however, and we had some really good food. It was nice to find somewhere that wasn't a chain... More

I wanted to experience some traditional Dutch food whilst in Amsterdam. This was recommended by my guide book so I checked it out. It was fairly difficult to find in the dark, but that's a good thing! It's off the busy roads, down a residential neighbourhood. From the moment you walk in, you feel like you've been invited to someone's... More
