Underwhelming

My first time in Amsterdam so we tried Blauw as it had good reviews on Tripadvisor. I wasn't overly impressed. Firstly the staff badly need more training. The girl serving us didn't know what she was doing. She took about 10 minutes to get the foil off a bottle of wine only to discover that it... read more

This is a great restaurant for ristaffel (the four of us dove straight into the meat/fish ristaffel option and didn't try the other dishes). There was a wide variety of meat, fish, and vegetable dishes; each was distinctly prepared and delicious. Service was friendly and attentive. We had a great chat with the chef at the end of the evening and he... More

This place offers a lot of good food and is good value for money. They make a good Indonesian tapas, really good. The atmosphere is nice, it is transformed into a place in Indonesia, Javanese Indonesia.

Ordered one "table rice" for two. They normally charge 20 euros for an extra plate. But they charged us two meals instead! Unfortunately, I found out this only next day, so could not complain. The food is ok, but beware of this kind of cheating!

We wanted to experience great Indonesian food in Amsterdam and Blauw did not disappoint. We shared two Rice tables (I cant remember the Dutch name) which gave us a great selection of loads of dishes and too much food to finish. I would definitely recommend a visit although it is a little out of the way.

Friends encouraged me to be sure to have a rijsttafel meal while in Amsterdam, even though I don't care for hot/spicy food. I followed reviewers' recommendations and came to this obviously excellent and popular restaurant. But like most Indian restaurants I've been to, the chef's idea of mildly-spicy is very different from mine. The service couldn't have been better. The... More

We booked for Friday night about a week before we went to Amsterdam for the weekend based mainly on reviews on here. And the four of us are really glad we did. The quality of food was outstanding, the service great, even though it was full. Would recommend to anyone, but make sure you book ahead a few days if... More

Having lived in Amsterdam for years, the area where this restaurant is is my favorite to dine out - not quite in the center, but still super nice, not too busy, and right next to the Vondelpark. Pros Food is really authentic to my taste. If you ask spicy, they will manage to make it spicy enough (I am Mexican,... More

The rijsttalfel was more than enough for 2 people, loved the the differing textures and flavours of each dish. What really impressed me was their highly detailed menu which catered for people with allergies - they were very accommodating with my nuts allergy and made sure I was able to try every dish (even Satay!). Overall, excellent experience.

The rule in this restaurant is that if you order a 'rijstafel', but less number of rijstafels than the number of persons in your group, you are penalized in your bill, by an extra Eur 10 per person !!!! This ‘fine’ remains even if you actually ordered OTHER food in addition to the rijstafels! (Not that this rule was fair,... More
