Live in Amsterdam, take visiting guests frequently

We live in Amsterdam and this is one of our go-to places for taking foreign guests--from India or the US usually, but sometimes other Europeans. We don't usually go otherwise because its not our part of town, and like most people who live here we have a tiny hole in the wall Indonesian place we... read more

We went here because of its reviews as an up and comer restaurant. Not at all disappointed by the food, but the restaurant, its servers and atmosphere were neither Indonesian ethnic not really comfortable. The seating area is on three levels, and kind of an intricate stairway/passages to navigate. That was kind of fun. But why bright orange uncomfortable chairs,... More

A colleague who had lived in Amsterdam suggested Blauw for an Indonesian meal, so we reserved a table. It's good we did, since it appears that once the evening starts at around 1830 the chances of walk-ins being seated are very slim. We ordered one meat rijstaffel for two and got a great sampling of this traditional meal. I suppose... More

Really enjoyed my visit here. The food was really fantastic with a good selection of dishes to try. 100 Euro bill with a decent bottle of wine for two people was a fair price. The service was a little bit slow however when they were there they were very professional.

Very kind personnel and excellent food. One rice meal and two main dishes for 3 persons is too much as the rice dish is so much that you can hardly eat everything.

Spicy and tasty, modern restaurant specializing in rijsttafel (rice table.) They have 3 to choose from plus other main courses and appetizers. We each had the fish and shrimp one plus we shared the duck spring rolls. Terrific tastes of many new and interesting dishes. Busy place so do book ahead.

We visited as a group of 12 (had pre-booked) and were warned that the seating might be on the cosy side, infact it was fine and no one felt cramped at all. The menu is extensive but for ease (and variety) we ordered the famous rijstaffel (meat and fish) and what a wonderful feast it was. One minor thing was... More

We made reservations for dinner and when we arrived, we were seated promptly. The menu is extensive, but of course the famous rijstaffel (hopefully I am spelling it right) attracted us the most and hence we ordered two meat ones and two fish ones to share among 5 people - we didn't want to overeat and we were on a... We wanted to have Indonesian Rijstoffel when in Holland and this restaurant was a friend's recommendation: great pick! The service was friendly, efficient and very kind to bring a special dessert since we were celebrating my dad's birthday. Most importantly, of the 20 or so dishes on the table not a one was unpopular - it was absolutely delicious. The... More

We had this place recommended from a friend who had visited before, and were also told that we must try the risjttafel, a total of 15-20 small dishes. We ordered the one with fish and meat (other options are only seafood or vegetarian), and it had a very nice variety and lots of different tastes. The only thing is that... More
