What others have said is true - the guy running this place is very friendly. The salted herring on a roll with onions and gherkins (the Dutch hamburger) was excellent - fresh and tasty. Went here based on recommendations here on ta and don't regret it one bit. The herring sandwich is a pleasant surprise. Was a bit skeptical at first as he herring is fresh (uncooked) but it was so good. Not fishy at all. A must try in Amsterdam.

Just around the corner from SwissOtel at the Damrak we found this excellent Broodjeszaak. We are no strangers to Herring as this isn't our first time in Amsterdam and we absolutely love it. To me the there are much difference... More
