Slow service...

Be prepared to have an evening filling program when having dinner at George. We arrived at 19.30 and left at 23.30, and only had a 3 course meal. Besides the slow service, food is good and reasonably priced.

My partner and I visited for lunch on a Sunday. The staff were exceptionally friendly and waited on our table well. The restaurant had a shabby chic feel, with a broad menu and good selection. I had pasta and my partner had carbonara which were delicious and priced reasonably. The restaurant had a lovely, friendly fill with locals and tourists... More

This place seems to be a great family and friends hang out on a Sunday evening. Overall the experience was good with very attentive and friendly service. The food from the fixed Winter menu was generally good but the chocolate fondant was extremely disappointing (gooey in the middle but surprisingly lacking in taste). The matching wines for the fixed menu... More

We enjoyed a light dinner at this place on a Saturday night. Reasonable menu selections and helpful staff. Choices included burgers, risottos, fish, steaks, pasta - a good selection for a relatively low key family meal.

I decided to give this place a go, it looks very appealing. I was seated in the bar area as I was solo, which suits me fine. I ordered a drink and was handed a menu. HALF AN HOUR later, no wait staff followed through with me.. There were four people in the dining room at the time. I believe... More

I was stuck in the Hotel Hell (Park Plaza Vondelpark) and it was dinner time. Walked to the closest restaurants but all were full. So I kept walking and found George W.P.A.. They found me a table immediately, the wait staff was pleasant, the food was good. Granted I only had a cheeseburger and fries, so I can't really give... More

Been here many times during my business trips to Amsterdam. Always crowded, reservation recommended. Small nice restaurant, good simple food, quick service compared to Amsterdam's standards, reasonable prices. I had a good blackened tuna with fries and salad. As a dessert a tasty creme brûlée.

I truly enjoyed the lunch time at George. Location is perfect, facing sun if is available (not always easy in AMS), good & efficient service and great food. Highly recommended the CodeFish and the Rocket Parmesan salad. Wines are good by bottle and just okay by glass. Overall a good experience.

We had a very enjoyable meal at George. Enjoyed the French bistro ambiance. Very full and varied menu - you should be able to find whatever you are in the mood to eat. We each had the tournedos of beef and it was prepared perfectly. Tender and flavorful. Excellent accompanying pomes frites and green salad. And a delicious chocolat fondant... More

We had beef and duck, both meals were very good, my duck was particularly tasty. Quite overpriced though - 22 euros for the duck. They also serve sandwiches also at top end prices. The restaurant itself is very nice, mostly black and white. It is chic and cozy. The service was very good. You can see the guys working in... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
