Some people from Amsterdam told me Piet de Leeuw is one of the best "old" places in the city and offer the best steak in town as well. Piet de Leeuw offers only two types of steak: beef and horse. The horse steak was on the point and very tasty. From my point of view the food was great, the... More

A Dutch friend recommended we visit this local steakhouse - simple but honest Dutch food Spot on. You go for the steaks - beef or horse (if you're game - we weren't!) and the authentic atmosphere. The steaks come with fries and salad. Mine was thick and juicy and the cooking was spot on. 18 euro My partner had calf... More

This small restaurant had an old ambience that made it interesting. As the name implies, it's a beef restaurant. We had the beef in red wine sauce, which was very tender and tasty. The house wine is a mediocre merlot. The service was haphazard. I wouldn't go there again.

Some call it cosy, I felt a little crowded! Always having to move my chair for the staff to move around and provide the service. However, the starters of fish on toast were excellent and the steak was good. So if you want a good meal and are happy to share your space with the staff - then this is... More

We hadn't booked but had places on the communal table which was fine. The service was efficient and friendly and we were served quickly. I had very good calves liver which was cooked properly (that is tender and not boot leather) and my husband had steak and very good frites. It was busy with lots of banter and a good... More

Stopped by for dinner as it was down the street from our hotel. Crowded with mostly young local customers. Brusk waiter. Seatings for two only at common table. Unusual for Holland was the non communication with the other two couples already there.Told gruffly "this is a Heineken's bar" when I asked for a taste of the famous Amsterdam micro brew... More

Delicious food and deserts. Cozy restaurant with local customers. Go there for the most enticing displays of beef, French fries. Ice cream was great and big!

We went here one evening and had a good time. It was packed with locals, which is always a good sign to me. We ended up sharing a table, which was fun. The fillet steak was very well cooked and the sides of chips and salad were good too. Not the cheapest place, but good food!

We ate twice here in our 4 night stay. The daily specials were lovely. Very busy with locals and tourists alike. You may need to share a large table with others but that adds to the ambience.

We ate here no less than four times for dinner during a nine day visit because of the quality of the food and the lively, friendly atmosphere. The menu was broad and we easily found different choices which suited us each time we ate here. The filet mignon in Stroganoff sauce I had one evening was the finest I have... More
